First post, after today's surgery

Day 5, big let down, tried on a pair of loose boxers, immediately caused great pain. Tried for an hour but hurt too bad. Back to square one. My two choices are sitting sideways on the end of the sofa, and try hard not to move, or lay in my bed on my side, and try hard not to move.

Was going to walk to mailbox this morning, but aborted halfway, hurt too much, from the clothing attempt earlier.

Bored out of my mind, haven't driven in 6 days - use to being mobile.

Thought by five days, I might be feeling better, but to be honest, just more of the same

no, some script level lydacaine cream would help, but was not prescribed. my uro surgeon knows my pain history well, he at least upped my diludid to compensate for the extra pain, but to be honest, at best, the extra med only slightly dulls the pain. the steady pain is level 5-6 at best, then works back to 7-8 as I near the next dose. plus, on the same level fentanyl patch, that hasn't been upped in over 2 years or so. still 100/mgm every 48 hours, vs. the more standard 72 hour swap.

my ex boss came and visited for an hour this afternoon, that was nice. he's been through everything I have suffered through dating back to early 2008. he knows exactly what I have been dealing with. brought me some special water and a huge cookie, knowing my sweet tooth. that was the highlight of my day..

took a 2 1/2 hour nap, but was in too much pain to sleep even a wink, just laid still on my side and watched an old movie, good mind distraction.

I forced myself later to do something useful to help my wife ,as she's use to me doing most all of the housework, laundry, shopping. Did manage to bring laundry up to date, empty trash bins, get her wine ready for later and as always, got her coffee maker set.

Cruise sounds like a great way to vacation.. Have yet to try one.

I have never owned a Lincoln but have driven several.. Have owned Cadillacs & both have Super comfortable rides IMHO.

So so sorry about all the pain & associated discomfort (ie not being able to get dressed, drive, etc ). thank you for sharing so that others might benefit.

Prayers continue & am adding restful sleep to the list. (BTW your wife & family are always also on list)

Did you ever find out what the bug was that was causing all the problems, ending up with a circumcision?

Tim: no. Despite the circumcism, still appear to be oozing something from further back. I was afraid this was going to be the case from the start. Right now, we are watching closely to make sure there are no early signs of any infections.

Chart: so you are under the weather, never had strep in my life, sounds miserable. You can catch up some other time when you feel better, so don't worry. On another sad note, I still have a hard time grasping with Barb's death. That she's really gone, not coming back, not going to be posting, etc. It really hit me hard at the personal level. We had that deal with neither side would give up. Well, she didn't ever give up, she simply had her life taken from hear despite her best and most heroic struggles. She was way more brave and tougher than she ever realized. Still miss her

I know, Lynn, Barb would expect no less of me. If she could nag me from Heaven, I honestly believe she is/was. I do take comfort that she no longer suffers in the flesh. And not to sound vindictive, but hoping those that treated her badly in the past (you know what I refer to), have had their conscious pricked a few times. She never struck back, no matter how badly she was verbally abused and slandered, even in the worse of her pain. Makes her a saint in my book.

It was a week ago that I had the surgery. Still limited to just wearing a dressing robe and t-shirt. Still too tender for any other clothing. If I am on my feet too long, standing or walking, it cause a lot of sharp pain - steady, feels like a stick, pencil, or straw is being shoved up me, so to speak. So past two days, trying to stay off my feet more.

They keep telling me that it will take 2 full weeks before I start to get some serious relief, so I still have a full week to go. Perhaps will start seeing at least some daily improvements by the end of the weekend ahead, I hope at least. Not driving now for 8 days is really killing me, it means a lot to me in my normal daily routine. Tried sitting in my car earlier today, but it hurt too bad.

Thanks, Bob. Glad you made it through yours. Guess being impatient here, its been 8 full days, but almost no noticeable improvements.

Today is rough, wife suspicious infection may be starting up. Almost fell to the floor shortly after getting up this morning ,right hip - right leg down to my knee, simply lost all feeling. Been nauseated unable to eat since I got up, shaky, cold - but no fever. Right after wife left for work (2 PM), took a look down "there" and saw that I had been bleeding right out of the urethra, first evidence of that since surgery. There was small amount of blood below that. Problem is, Friday afternoon, and all my doctor's close up shop at Noon or so. If things don't improve later, may end up having to go to ER, hoping that is not the case. Going to lay down for a few hours, too weak feeling to want to sit up at this time. Will check back later.
