Ok, guys, happy numbers day, a great day for one of the G9 Crew!

Today was a terrific day. Let me share good news, to encourage those facing rather worrisome diagnoses.

I just saw my MO today, blood draw, the first status of of my recovery phase. Two months after the expiration of my last 4 month Lupron, and after stopping Casodex, the end of 3 long years of hormone therapy, during and after IGRT radiation therapy. A long road, indeed.

Drumroll..... PSA undetectable, and testosterone 132! That's testosterone over halfway to normal (250) in only two months! I am more than happy, more than excited, more than encouraged. You've all listened to my venting, my angst, my speculations, my cynicism about testosterone recovery on this forum. My hope was that my relative youth in this arena would help my T recovery. Maybe it will!

The happy scenario, PSA staying undetectable, testosterone rising, is HAPPENING. I've been waiting 3 years hoping this would happen. Maybe it will continue, maybe not, but I'm expecting it to and I'm doing the happy dance today. I was going to go back to work after the appointment, but we went out for a nice steak dinner instead to celebrate! We enjoyed a beautiful, happy day.

My dear G9 crew friends, NEVER give up hope (you can see from my signature there wasn't a lot to celebrate in my diagnosis). It's a long road, but from a G9 5+4, good news can happen. We celebrate when we can, right?!

Hey Mel. Dr. Hussain is going to Northwestern over in Chicago. I wasn't quite clear on the role, but it seems she'll be leading, involved with, or some such, their clinical trials programs. Phasing out seeing patients at U of M through June, and actually leaving sometime in August it seems. (My brain was fairly spinning with my good numbers, so I wasn't listening as closely as I should have).

She and her PA spent, according to her, hours selecting the most appropriate recommended doctors for her patients. I'll be seeing Ajjai Shivaram Alva, MBBS, who specializes in bladder, prostate, and kidneys. Seems like a good fit, as I still have a moderately complex renal cyst we're watching, and of course the existing PCa. His summary: www.mcancer.org/physicians/ajjai-shivaram-alva-mbbs. Dr. Hussain was his mentor through his Fellowship program, so I'm confident he'll have a similar approach.

Next PSA check will be in August. I'll get another Prolia shot then, and get a chance to meet the new doctor. I'll do some research in the meantime.

Henry Ford Hospital is also a major player in SE Michigan, and maybe someone there might be a good fit. I hate changing hospitals, because of all the record transfers.

*nanograms per deciliter. I point out the units because the "deci-" prefix -- meaning one tenth -- is one of the most seldom used parts of the metric system. We use the powers of 1000 all the time -- pica, nano, micro, milli, kilo, mega -- but "centi-" is used only for centimeters and "deci-" is hardly used at all outside of medical laboratories. If you need one tenth of something you just slide the decimal point and don't bother. That said, 1.32 mg/L is an excellent T score after only 1.7 deciyears of recovery.

Just orders of magnitude of fun! You would be the one to key on that metric - I love it. In fact, they told me 1.32 (ng/mL), and I said oh, ok, so 132. The PA looked at me blankly. I said I'm used to the other system, no biggie, just move the decimal point. She was still kind of puzzled, so I dropped it. My first pre-treatment T was 440, so that's the scale I've thought in. Goal has been to claw my way back all the way to at least 250 (woo hoo). Or 4.4, and thus 2.5. Works either way.

There is a unit of viscosity called a centiStoke, and that's about the only other way I've heard "centi" used. It's in the centimeter-gram-second system of units

Well that is just farkin' fantastic news Jerry. Congrats to you and the family. Hope the T levels keep going up and life can return to a somewhat more normal basis.

Great progress Jerry. You have to be feeling better. My T languished for about a year and then started going up quickly. In one year is went from 75 to 265. So once it moves up it should move quickly to normal.
