As usual, outstanding writing!

No one can read this article and not be affected by it!

I think I may have said this before about your writing, but you have the remarkable ability to recognize immediately what is the truly important thing, the essence, the significance, of a situation, problem, a circumstance or such, and then stay on target the whole time while you are writing about it!

Nice work Todd! Your "cutting" to the heart of the matter is appreciated.

Nicely written, Todd. I can relate even though my sentence has been shorter, and after 3 years I'm newly on reprieve for as long as that lasts (long time, I hope!).

You brought tears to my eyes, insofar as how this impacts our partner. I agree completely, I can deal with my side effects though unpleasant. I hate how it affects my wife and our relationship. Unless one experiences this "loss of libido", I'm not sure one can truly appreciate what that means. I have retained physical capability, fortunately, even though quite diminished. But sex is about as interesting as mowing the lawn or loading the dishwasher. It seems to cut the core out of who I am as a man. It can be even worse, in lack of interest in really anything. I'd often be happy to sit and look at the wall. That's NOT me!

The memory issues are real, too. Compiler and I were talking about that recently. My short term memory is still pretty ok, but it's the mid-term of days to a couple weeks that is a problem. It's not like I can't find the thread, so once reminded the memory comes back. It's that the memory just isn't there, it's a hole. My brain's hard drive is developing bad sectors or something. My boss once reminded me of a budget discussion we had; I said, "Oh, right! Yes I remember now.". But in reality, I had utterly no recollection of that discussion even given details of it. Nothing. Just not there. It happens occasionally, not chronically, but it does happen.

It seems there's something like a higher activation-energy needed to record the memory. If I'm not fully paying attention, it may not record. I need to be really engaged for it to stick, so multi-tasking is not a good idea.

Great article Todd. I got the fan and the AC on at night. The memory part is still minor, but what I am most aware of is struggling to find the right words when having technical discussions with my co-workers.
The hot flashes for me are more like a lack of temperature control. I'm wearing a coat when it's 85, and sweating when it's 65.
Lunch time here at work now, so me thinks I'll have a short nap.

Nice article Todd, and very valuable to a public generally unaware of the advances in Cancer treatment.

I know it has been said many times before, but I want to reiterate just how important is your presence in this forum.

I was very scared when first diagnosed, and it was only by reading stories such as yours that I started to gain a bit of confidence about the future and was able to calm down a bit.

I can't imagine how many newbies have visited here, convinced that they had very little future left, but then gained a great deal of hope after reading of your experience. Not just the fact that there is a potentially long life ahead, but also that it can be filled with exciting experiences.

Please keep on keeping on.

Excellent blog! I know the feeling of memory loss, I wish I could blame my memory lapses on ADT, but I have never started ADT. I guess I just have to blame it on something, maybe my prophylactic baby aspirin I take ever day. LOL.

Having joined this forum 8/15 I realize I say thank you over and over again. Your dx is much more serious than mine, g 5-4, 6 cores up to 90%. Pretty much like Jerry. What I really want to say is I am gratefull for you and others here who selflessly share without knowing how much it helps. I'm not good at spilling my guts so my participation here is limited to say the least. I am here, taking that same Lupron roller coaster ride as well, using this forum and the related blogs to stay grounded. The value to me is more than I can express...Bill

Awesome article Todd! cool I had low T prior to PCa treatment as well, and I've noticed even with low T that I'm having memory problems and often struggle to find the right words - which has never been a problem for me before. Thankfully I'm ok on the libido side still. I can only imagine how having no T would exacerbate these challenges - kudos to all of you for fighting the good fight while on ADT. :thumbsup:
