mike,
actually yes. they bought the house from the original estate/family in 1980. at that time, sat empty and unsold for over 10 years. they barely lived in the house for 1 year, claiming nothing unusual happened until after, digging around the bricks in one of the many brick fireplaces, they discovered around 8-10 $5 gold pieces dated way back (don't remember). they sold them for a fortune at the time. soon after, they claimed that shadows followed them on the second floor landing, blowing cold air up their backs and hair. this happened several times over several nights, and finally, they were convinced their were ghosts that were mad for them finding and selling the gold. I know this sounds made up, but that's their story. so they left the house in the middle of a cold rain storm at night, only with the clothes on their back, and would never come back to the house.
during the 1940s, the house served as the only funeral home for the village for a number of years, adding to the mystique of the place, that and other rumors.
even when I ask to see the house via their agent, she refused to enter the house, handed me the keys and said I could do as I pleased. I bought the house on the spot, it was our first home we ever owned.
