It's that time again

So I have an appointment with my surgeon/urologist, a week from tomorrow. I'd normally go into Manhattan a day or two before, for the PSA blood draw and get the results the next day.

But tomorrow morning, have an appointment with my Cardiologist, to get blood draw there in advance of my appointment with him in two weeks. And the Cardiologist is just a block away from the urologist. So to save myself an extra trip into Manhattan, I'm going to the Uros office as well to get the PSA done.

It's making me a little nervous. Because I'll get the results on Tuesday morning, and if it turns out to NOT be another undetectable, I'll have to wait 4 days to see the Dr (and I'll have to depend on you guys) to talk me off the ledge.

But whatever. I hate this. Thanks for letting me rant, I haven't done it in a while

Know the feeling well, but is there a better feeling than hearing that "undetectable"? Think about how great that feels and start saving your money--drinks will be on YOU

I feel your pain.... the waiting is absolutely the worst part. Your mind just runs away down dark roads.

You've done well, you're likely to keep doing well.

And my mantra finally has become, "I'm ok until I'm not ok. And even then it will be ok.". In other words, until bad news is actually in hand I'm not going to expect any bad news.

Well, Prato, you and I are on the same path, I"m a month or so behind you. My next PSA/Uro visit is in mid-august (would you believe I don't remember the date?). This will be my first on the six-month schedule. I'm not going to worry about it--yet. Vacation is coming first.

@ASA, yup, I know, we all have the anxiety, it's unfortunate, but it's nice to be able to vent it here to guys that understand. For whatever odd reason, it makes me feel better just to write it out.

I also have MyChart. But, My Uro's PA always calls me the next business morning after blood draw, at 9-9:30 AM with results, it's just part of their protocol. I thought of asking them not to, but that would be ridiculous .

Be relaxed and confident with you PSA results. You and I used the same great surgeon and a great outcome thus far. You have every reason to be relaxed and confident.

I approach the quarterly blood draw as a non-event. (Though I admit to a nice smile and sigh of relieve when his PA calls the next morning with the Zero result.)

@Gedman, got it. I'm surprised, I thought with negative pathology you'd be at 6 months by now. But I understand with a 4+3 he might want to be more cautious. But great that you are undetectable for over three years now, that likely portends well for you.

Actually I'm 3+4, and after 1 year of 3 month testing and visits he moved me to six months. So this is my first 6 month test, which is why it's got me a bit uptight. But I'm under control, and expect the morning phone call from Mae with results tomorrow.

I don't want to get ahead of myself but he said if I stay undetectable after 2 six month visits, which would be January, if all goes well, I would go to one year. That surprised me. But maybe I misunderstoodm.

I don't live or work on Manhattan so it's a bit of a PITA for me, but I am not really bothered by that, it's more the anxiety leading up to it. But that's just the way I'm wired.
