Oxybutynin to treat leakage.

I have not taken it, but this is very interesting. The only real problem I have any more is what might be called sudden urges. Which I suspect is some sort of spasm, I suppose in the bladder, though it feels more like a contraction at the base of the penis which tries to force urine out. It happens a few times a day, out of nowhere. If I am quick to clamp down, no problem, though if I don't go empty it will probably continue happening. If I am too slow, I may get a couple of small spots in my under wear. I still have to be on guard for any major stress, but as long as I pay attention I can pretty much prevent any leakage. But it is these surprise attacks that are the biggest problem now after over 2 years. (had bad problems for most of the 1st year). I wonder if this would help with these little spasms or whatever these sneak attacks are?

Any side effects?

I leaked really badly following my RALP almost five years ago. The incontinence improved only a little in the two years following surgery; so my urologist referred me to pelvic floor rehab. The rehab therapist got my pelvic floor strengthened up to a 4.5 on a scale of 5 but all I gained was modest improvement in my incontinence. My urologist then prescribed oxybutynin but it did nothing to improve my leaking. After three years, I was still leaking 400-500ml daily. My urologist could offer no explanation as to why I was still leaking so badly after all that time and having a strong pelvic floor. Finally he recommended that I get an artificial sphincter implanted and I got the AMS 800 two years ago. That made a huge difference for me. I still wear a shield (light pad) in my shorts but the days of heavy leaking are finally gone.
