Liver Mets?

Hubby has been having more and worse bone pain since the doctor switched him off Lupron and onto Eligard. Yesterday he was in bad pain and suddenly the left side of his jaw swelled up. So he FINALLY went to see his Primary Care Doctor (actually saw his partner). Seems he probably had a blocked salivary gland. But they also did some bloodwork (he actually mentioned his persistent pain---- finally). Got results today. His liver enzymes are extremely elevated. They are scheduling an ultrasound and more extensive bloodwork. I have been reading up on liver mets and he has a good many of the symptoms (tiredness, stomach issues, back pain, temperature sensation issues, etc.). Crossing fingers (and toes....) that it is something else. Will update as I know more.

Same here re Casodex. Liver blood panel went through the roof, but all I had to do was cut dosage in half.

With recent PSA of 0.2, this early in your disease cycle, not likely liver mets, IMO; thank goodness.

When I had the bad liver reaction to Casodex, Dr. Lam had me stop that med. Within about 2-4 weeks, my enzymes went from super high to normal. I resumed Casodex and the problem did not recur

Hubby is scheduled for his liver ultrasound on Friday morning. We did get the rest of the bloodwork back- it is not hepatitis. Also, finally got through to his urologist-- he had been on ER duty last week. He said that 2 shots of Eligard could not cause the results hubby got. But I don't think he considered that hubby has been on Lupron for 3 years. And that can also cause liver problems-- in fact probably more serious (and long term/ permanent) damages than Eligard. So fingers crossed ( and prayers being said) that it is a side effect issue and that we have caught it before serious / permanent damage has been done. If it is mets..... we'll deal with that too. Either way I think we will be looking at options other than Lupron and it's ' brothers'.

Hubby just checked his doctor's patient website. His liver ultrasound results were in.... normal. So it looks like we are dealing with side effects from the Lupron and Eligard. He's to have the bloodwork repeated in 3 weeks. And will be talking soon (I hope it is soon) with his urologist about where we go from here with HDT.
