Back from Colorado

Gary and I took a short trip to see his Mom in Colorado. Beautiful there and Gary felt good. He was scheduled to have another round of mitoxantrone, but his hemoglobin was way low, so he had a blood transfusion. His PSA came back down after he resolved the UTI.
That was a blessing in so any ways, because he was really fatigued from lack of blood. So instead of vacationing during chemo crash, he got a boost from the transfusion.
So, back to the MO today to get the missed chemo, only to find out that his platelets and vitamin D are critically low. So no chemo until at least next week. But the good news was that his PSA is now down to 590. That's the lowest it's been since April 2015!
Hopefully his platelets recover and we move on.

I saw your post and thought you were going to write about a new treatment you are trying that's available in Colorado! (Cannabis) My husband decided to go this unconventional route because we also live in Colorado and none of the conventional treatments have worked for long. After his orchiectomy, his PSA went to 2.5 last month before rising to 3.5 in early October (3 mo doubling time). He just started high doses of THC oil with some CBD oil. Not many dispensaries make the high potency oil, and we will know in a month if it helped.
Glad you got your husband out of the house and were able to enjoy a wonderful autumn excursion! Always good for the soul--for both of you.

I forgot to inquire if anyone has ideas about how we might bring up Gary's platelet count. The MO didn't think an infusion would have a lasting effect and didn't have any idea why they were critically low.
He started taking vitamin D and B 12.
I also forgot to add that his weight is almost back within normal range according to his BMI at 118...a 10 lb increase from all time low of 108 a month ago!
I am certain, mtn wife, that he would not have been able to achieve that without cannabis. He was given as a gift a vaporizer that works like a potpourri warmer and it does not put off particulates. It is medically legal in CA and we are fortunate to live smack dab in the emerald triangle

Great news on the PSA drop! Now to get his platelet counts so he can continue on. Glad to hear that the two of you were able to enjoy some time in Colorado. I hear its a wonderful state.
