It is a real shiner too!
So we get a call from MO office that Gary won't be getting chemo this week shortly after getting his blood work done. Since he's been bruising a lot, I assumed his platelets were low, and I was correct. Around 60, and they need to be above 100. The medonc wants to see him for his regular visit anyway, so we go and learn that his PSA has dropped to 532 and his weight has increased to 123 from 108 just a couple of months ago. So despite the blood count issues, all good news.
So I'm planning to take my DH home, give him pot roast for lunch and off to work.
Then the incident...Gary turns to say something to me as we leave the exam room and trips. He has his jacket across his arms so not able to catch his balance or break his fall. The result was face first in the Dr. office hallway with blood pouring out of several facial abrasions. That's where the low platelets become an issue. Over an hour later the wounds finally stopped bleeding and he was wheeled to the car.
Tonight he looks like he had it out with a much larger guy. Steri strips across his nose and a very colorful left eye and cheek.
So much for an uneventful MO visit!
