Hello again,
My dad was diagnosed in August 2014 with a PSA of 700 and a Gleason of 4+5 with bone metastases, and stage 4 prostate cancer. He was 68 at the time. His Initial treatment was Androcur injections with subsequent orchiectomy in January 2015. His PSA went down to 1.3, but it has been slowly rising for the last 8 months. Last week it was 4.37. I would like to ask a few questions and will be grateful for any replies..
1) Since his adrenal gland testosterone is not suppressed, is it possible that Androcur or Casodex can decrease his PSA level again? Or is his PC hormone independant now?
2) What about
non hormone medicine like Metformin and Ketoconazole? Can they be used in such advanced cases?
3) Can 2d line hormone therapy like Premarin be used if orchiectomy took place?
I am afraid his oncologist will suggest chemo, but I am not sure this is the best choice taking into account the above mentioned options. My father is quite healthy, every day he walks with our dog around 60minutes, and still works full time.
I know that most of the people here are not medical professionals, but I know that most of you are very knowledgeable about
the subject. I would appreciate any information.
Thank you in advance
Pavel
