The other thing is that it says that the cancer "abuts capsule without evidence of extracapsular extension". This makes me a bit more concerned as it sounds like while the cancer hasn't spread outside the prostate, it is near the boundary of the "capsule"... Maybe I'm just reading too much into that but it sounds like it is closer to breaking though than if it was deeper in the interior of the organ.
Anyway... does anybody think this is stuff the Urologist should have mentioned rather than ... the MRI came back with "no obvious signs of metastasis"? That is all he told me.
Thank you,
Tim
That is similar to my MRI report. It said that lesion was causing a bulge suggesting early capsular invasion, but no EPE because the rectoprostatic angle was intact. However, after surgery, the surgeon reported that the prostate looked completely normal to him with no bulge. Later, the pathologist confirmed that the tumor was completely within the prostate. Hence, the MRI may be misleading when suggesting anything close to EPE. It did, however, cause the surgeon to cut further around where the MRI suggested the lesion would abut.
