John, if your wife can make it, we will need to know if she wants to go on the Boggie bus with the gals to Bew Orleans. They will do the river boat Jazz brunch.

Will need to to order the ticket.

SO unfair reading about all this! But I'm with Chask - please take a couple of bots of Aussie vino along for the troops.
Your menu sounds amazing - I'm salivating just reading about it!
Have an awesome time everyone - would love to make it along one day.

Very lovely of you Cajun Jeff - I guess that's the legendary southern hospitality we've heard about - even as far away as these shores!

Just wish I knew what Crawfish Boil, shrimp étouffée and boudin were. I'm intrigued and about to get googling!

Crawfish Boil: You take a large quantity of Crawfish (they look like mini-lobsters), dump in a pot of suitiably seasoned water, and boil 'em. Then you dump it out on the table and go for it. Best done with a large group of friends. Liberal quantities of libations go well with the party atmosphere.

Shrimp Etoufee: Think shrimp in a spicy gravy served over rice.

Boudin: a sausage containing rice, liver, and cajun seasonings.

And I'm a confirmed northerner and love this stuff.

As you guys know Lupron Jim is having health issues. Looks like he will miss this GFMPH. After he make his first gathering he never missed.

We're due in at BTR at 5:41 pm Thursday. We might show up at the Cajun Jeff's that evening, or we might wait till Friday morning. See ya'll soon!

I'm pretty sure your prostate ended up near mine, in the hospital bio-hazard waste bucket. Yours is the young looking one. Mine is the older, moldy one glowing from UV dye and 2,4-D. ;-)

Hey JayBee&GG and ChasK.
You know, there are enough guys on your island with missing or rotten prostates so you could have a really nice GFMPH meeting. A central location like Adelaide would be perfect. Actually, It turns out that anywhere is perfect! People come from all over the country no matter where we hold it. My place is in the Rochester NY region and we still get guys from Idaho, Texas, Florida, Canada and everywhere in between. Cajun Jeff hosts in Baton Rouge. Sonny hosts in Orlando.
Heck, if you set one up we might even come! We're always up for a trip!

I'm telling you the event will change your life. It certainly changed mine. smile

GFMPH is officially underway.If you are in the Baton Rouge, LA area, and missed the dates, we are here. Come on out! Ping me on the gmail account in my profile if you need info.

The ladies are off on their day trip. We are still expecting a few more to arrive. There is a good crowd already, and the first bonfire has been lit. I'll let the more poetic of the crew write descriptions.

We have all been introduced to the rush-hour chaos of the I-10 Mississippi River bridge, which has proven a good motivation to get the shopping done off-hours.

My friends at Wm. Grant & Sons have provided proper stemware for the scotch tasting, and the cigars are ready for Saturday night.

Another GFMPH is in the books. As the host for this one I must say the food was good, the company was best, and seeing our HW friends was the best.

Lots of laughter, many conversations, and just a few tears.

Those of you with interest of ever attending the next GFMPH will be the end of September in the Rochester, NY area.

Bumping up the GFMPH thread.

It is very fair to say a good time was had by all, and that our hosts (Jeff & Pat) deserve accolades for a weekend that was an outstanding opportunity for us to meet in real life.

I'm getting ready for September. Worried Guy will be along with the obligatory official report soon.

If you have not ventured out for one of our gatherings, start thinking Rochester (NY) in late September. There will be scotch and cigars Saturday night.

As the host of GFMPH South Cajun Style I must say what a wonderful time we had. Great conversation, new friendships, wonderful food ( not just cajun food that I cooked but a few of the guest wanted to fix treats for us) Crawfish, BBQ Chicken, and on Wed we had Soup all of which I did not have to make.

The ladies had a fantastic time on the Party Bus to New Orleans and enjoyed the River Boat Jazz Curse. Some even came back with items to take home from a bit of shopping.

We have finally rested up and back to normal or as normal as we can get. smile

Do consider Rochester NY in September.

Jeff, a great time was had by all! We so look forward to seeing everyone, and your consummate hosting skills are deeply appreciated. Meeting some new people is always a mixed blessing; happy to meet, sorry about the circumstances!

Someone said it feels a lot like a family reunion when we get together. The mutual support, concern, and camaraderie is very supportive and regenerative.

And did we have fun at 142's whiskey tasting! I know of no one else who is so knowledgeable on that topic.

Thanks as always for so graciously hosting another event.

I completely agree about 142s knowledge. We enjoyed at much and the guest I think. smile Hope to see you guys in Sept. Already talked with Goodlife about possible meeting to get to the island.
