I guess it's not too early in the year to begin planning on taking a vacation, family or otherwise, as summer is almost here.
The link below is to a page on the Medivizor website that describes eleven vacation sites and/or retreats around the U.S. that have been designed specifically with cancer patients in mind. Also, the theme of the article is that these sites offer getaways that are free to cancer patients.
From the article:
"There are organizations that have made it their mission to provide needed respite to those affected by cancer. Here is a short list with links to a few that we have found … All of the organizations described above utilize volunteers and donations of time, money and housing, to make these retreats possible."
The programs listed in the article appear to be for real. I did some checking and, first, Medivizor appears to be a responsible medical-assistance site, and the vacation programs listed in their link below do seem themselves to have responsible websites. (Googling their names in order to learn more about
them seems to work best, as some of the links in article below don't work).
A cumulative picture of the eleven vacation places:
locations around the U.S.; activities listed: yoga, meditation, art, fly fishing (several), river trips, hiking, sailing, kayaking, workshops; a couple for women only, another for children and teens.
Clearly,
location is a primary factor here, even if one is actually interested in any of these vacation possibilities, as these places are scattered across the U.S.
But it's interesting to see and learn that such vacation options do seem to be out there, and I present this link to information about
them simply for information purposes:
