Ten years ago this week I received the news that I had prostate Cancer, with a PSA of 10. The next week I had a 16 sample biopsy, and it showed I had a cancer in 12 of the samples. I am one of the lucky ones, when they removed my prostate, my PSA was 11 but it had not spread, even though with 65% of the organ filled with cancer, by most norms it should have spread. Last week I had my blood draw for my annual PSA test and exam, and had a little worry, the past five years it has been less than .03, and this year was less than .1 . My Urologist explained that Blue Cross makes them use Lab Corp and they do not use the more sensitive test that I have had in the past, so the good news is I'm still undetectable.
Even though it's been ten years, I still lurk nd check in to see how everyone is doing. I cheer at your success and cry with the guys who lose a battle, but know that I keep all of you in my heart and wish you all find a way to tame or beat the beast.
Drinks are on me today!
