I run 6 miles every other day and bike 30 miles on the off days and do this 7 days a week...put 3500 miles on my bike last year and ran 1000 miles....
wow, you sound very healthy. Not every 58 year-old can claim that kind of distance. Last time I was on a bike I did a couple miles and thought I was going to die. Best I can do is a 2-3 mile walk.
Haven't run on purpose since I was 21.
You sound like the picture of health to me.
and PSA will go up as you age, whether you want it to or not...
AndrewMy routine started about
8 yrs ago, decided I needed to drop some weight and get moving, started biking with my wife, dropped 20 pounds, then added running and dropped almost 30 more ! Now down to my desired weight ( people said I was too skinny)...then I started getting a pressure in my chest when biking hills, about
8 months into my starting this stuff..
Went to my GP, he did ekg, echo, blood work etc, my HDL was 120...he said "that GREAT, the highest I have seen" all other bloodwork was great, diag I had a pulled muscle, keep riding..
Two days later same pressure stopped mid hill, pain went away, pulled out cell called GP and asked for cardio Dr apt, got in the next day to a top guy I our area.
He agreed all looked great BUT wanted me back next ay to run on tread mill and do an echo...well he sent me right then to hospital for angio...98% blocked LAD....yup the "widow maker"
Surgeon said " I put in a 4mm stent, go hoe and get back on your bike"....that was almost 8 yrs ago and much of the reason im sure that I maintain my 7 day a week routine...
While on vacation I run 6 miles every morning and then ride bikes with my wife when I get back.Ido this for 7 days straight.
I feel good when I do this, even bought a fat tire bike to ride all winter too...
So I suppose its in my nature to become ummm slightly obsessive
My weight is still around 150...im about
5'8" tall...
Thx for taking time to answer my questions on this site....I pray for all of you to be well...
