PSA won't go down after radiation

Gentlemen: After years of a slowly rising PSA, I was diagnosed with nonaggressive prostate cancer in June of 2015 (I was told: low risk, typically highly favorable treatment results). I completed 9 weeks of external beam radiation treatment in November 2015. Very disappointed that my PSA has never declined, at least not much. I read about everyone else on these posts and their PSA has declined significantly after treatment, to almost negligible. Mine just stays high, in fact seems to bounce around. Not sure what is up? Would appreciate some thoughts on this.

I have tried to summarize as best I can, below, some of the numbers, which you probably think look crazy (after reading some of the other posts):

54 @ Dx 6/26/15
Bx: 2 of 8 positive, one 25% and one 30%, both G 6 = 3 + 3

7/06 = 2.42
12/09 = 3.10
7/13 = 4.57
6/15 = 5.04 (this test prompted the biopsy)
5/16 = 4.06 (this was 6 mos. after radiation treatment, the doctor said it should have been 1.0)
7/16 = 3.14
11/16 = 5.52
12/16 = 2.96 (re-tested due to the 5.52)
5/17 = 3.56

I was on Enbrel for many years for ankylosing spondylitis (stopped Enbrel in August 2013 when I had the much higher PSA).
My regular doctor stated that he thought that Enbrel may have weakened my immune system, but did not cause the cancer.

My first PSA at age 45 was a 5.0, to my surprise. I had a series of 3 biopsies over the next two years, never finding anything but some inflammation. The PSA bounced around from 4.1 to 5.2 over the next two years, then dropped to 3.3 for a year, then finally to a bit less than 2 and stayed there for 3 more years until I quit checking it. (Note: don't quit checking it. I was actually diagnosed about 4 years later at age 55, which I believe had nothing to do with that earlier excitement.)

Anyway, all of that is to say inflammation definitely can cause your PSA to bounce around, even to alarming levels. Actual cancer will cause a steady rise, or at least a rising trend amidst some variability. Your level is too low to warrant any further thought on your part.

Well I can tell you that when I started my 9 week course of IMRT back in February my PSA was 14.8 and I completed my treatment on April 20th. I did my first post PSA test 6/2/2017 and it was 10.2 NOT GOOD!!..
it was disappointing to say the least. They wanted to start HT now BUT I refused and want to wait a bit longer. I am going to search out other opinions as I do NOT want to go down this HT road. I have some heart issues and already very low testosterone so i know that's going to make me feel a lot worse than I already do. I'll find another way.

Guys ....very confusing issues here ....so sorry you both are having to be in limbo with the negative PSA numbers .....a helluvof kick after going through all we must ....please keep us posted ~David
