OT-end is in sight for my mother

We are very sorry for your loss Halbert. Your Mom was truly blessed to have a peaceful passing with her loving son so near. We cared for my husband's sweet mom all through her six year struggle with Alzheimer's and while there were truly harrowing times, they were far out weighed by the many moments of pure grace. It sounds as though there are many others with similar experiences and I think it speaks to the loving, compassionate character of so many here on this forum. We wish you and your family peace and joy as you remember the happy times with your mom, Suzanne & George

halbert - I echo the warm thoughts and prayers of all who have responded. O am relieved to hear that your mother passed quietly and peacefully. There are so many difficult passings that it reinforces my faith when I hear of one who is able to go easily. There is no good time, and we will miss them always and forever, but she is in a better place now.

Update-The family is gathering at our 'summer property' in southern Maine, interment will be in a small country graveyard here tomorrow afternoon. Yesterday, we drove across Vermont in driving rain. Several who were trying to fly in got cancelled because of the massive east coast storm system.

The rain should stop here later this morning. When we stepped out of the car finally last night after picking one daughter up in Portland, the first thing I heard was a loon calling across the water. This is truly my (and mom's) happy place. We'll worry about how to keep it later.
