Good morning all, My 8 1/2 mo PSA results are in and PSA 0 my T level is 154. I am very pleased with these numbers. The only SE's I have is my Libido hasn't recovered 100% yet but I think that is mostly due to the 6 mo of lupron and the Flomax I have been on. I quit the Flomax about
2 weeks ago and the last Lupron shot was mid January. I feel like in time things will get better in this respect. At this time I am very comfortable with my decision of treatment choices and wouldn't hesitate to suggest that anyone who has to fight this beast look into SBRT as a means method of attack.
Good luck to all and God bless.

Sounds good. I'm glad you're monitoring your T level. Mine was depressed for a year after SBRT before it recovered, and that was without a Lupron shot.

Actually I was told over the phone that my PSA was 0 but when I got the hardcopy from the lab it was0.05. What are the thoughts on that?

For practical purposes, .05 is a zero.

My thought is the extra decimal point is unnecessary after radiation - it will never be zero anyway

Great work Chipmaker!
This thread raises a couple questions. How does SBRT affect T level and libido? (Assuming no lupron) Should T level always be included in bloodwork f/u as normal course?

Steve-
Radiation often has a temporary dampening effect on T level through some unknown mechanism. I think it's a good idea to monitor it until it normalizes.

I had my SBRT at UAB in Birmingham AL and I live about
125 miles from there. After my initial test I have had the blood drawn by my local URO for the test. I had to insist on the testosterone being checked. I can't understand why that wouldn't be standard of care after PCA treatment. No offense intended, but my local guy didn't know what SBRT was.

Good report Chipmaker.
I'm about
100 miles from UAB myself (NW Georgia), but grew up in North Alabama.
I had my HDR Brachytherapy at Emory, by a well-known Radiation Oncologist. To be honest, he was great and all but he didn't "seem" too worried about
my already low T levels. I think those guys are just focused on keeping you alive and cured. When I kept on about
it, he referred me to a urologist specializing in T, ED, etc.
I have a super-smart PCP but I find that often I know things about
PCA more so than he. I guess when you spend 9 hours a day, and see 25 patients with a wide variety of issues, it's hard to keep up with every specialty.
