Hi Everyone. Tomorrow is the day. Will be going for my biopsy. Can't wait for it to be over.
Then there will be the wait (anxiety) for the results. Just thought I'd let everyone know. Will
try to write about it how it went when I get home. Thanks for everyone's support.

except for the part where they stick things up your backside. That part wasn't nice.

I hope the Uro intends to inject anesthetic into your prostate. My understanding is that it's not always done. Not trying to add to your anxiety, but I would ask him if you haven't already. It really stung when he injected the numbing agent, but I felt nothing after that. It's uncomfortable having the probe in your butt, but not a big deal.

I've got to chose between a peace of cake sedation biopsy without an MRI image for guide and the in office TRUS biopsy with the local anesthesia, more of an adventure I have heard, but an accurately targeted lession guided by an MRI image. I've been following the AS since 2012, PSA now 6.80, Gleason 3 + 3 = 6. Didn't give it the attention it deserves from 2014 until 2017. Beginning to think it would be great to have the darn thing removed and not have to worry about future PSA, biopsies or margin leaping growth. Anyone thoughts would be appreciated. I am sure that your biopsy will go well and it will be better when it is completed. For me I'm in a zone of confusion smile

Good luck to you. I have a "biopsy fusion" tomorrow (have to be put under for this one. First biopsy I was awake the whole time) and have to wait a week to get the results. The waiting is the hardest part. Let us know the results. Jack

Fiddlecanoe, believe me, the least of my concern right now is my dignity. Hope it isn't too painful, the biopsy that is. Am certainly not a stranger to pain. Even tho it's only 10-12 mins., it will probably seem
like a long time. Of course right now hoping for a neg. PCa diagnosis.

Not to worry.....most, including me, experience little if any pain. The skill and experience of the guy doing it is most important.

It's annoying, uncomfortable, and undignified, but not all that painful.

You're on the table 10 - 15 minutes and likely in the office for an hour. I had mine in the morning and was working in the afternoon.

The anticipation is likely worse than the procedure.

Hi Guys! I'm home, didn't take that long. But, a big but, the pain was excruciating when he was trying to get into the prostate. He was having a difficult time, said if he couldn't succeed I would have to be put in the hospital. Finally after 3 or 4 tries, success. The samples taken (12) weren't painful, only slightly, but the initial penetration was on scale of 1 to 10, a 10++. Am still very sore, my rear end hurts & for whatever reason, I feel like I have to have a bowel movement. Bleeding from rectum, which he said could last a week. Gave me 3 more anti-biotic pills (Cipro) . Have to take one tonight, one tomorrow morning & one tomorrow night. I asked him from what he saw, what was his opinion. He said it looked good and is hopeful there is no cancer, but won't be sure until the biopsy comes back. Still wish I never new about my PSA, cause I would have not gone for the biopsy.

it is a pain in the butt.

Watch out for infection, that's the real worry post-biopsy.

Now for the second biopsy pain: waiting for the results.

I'm afraid your physician wasn't an experienced butt man. At least as far as biopsies are concerned. :-(

Glad it's over for you, except for the waiting of course. I hope the result is a negative, and worth waiting for.

Thanks everybody. The dr. has 11 years experience (urology) & is a lead urologist in one of
the nearby hospitals. He said something about it being very narrow & having a problem getting
into the prostate. Before he started I asked how much pain can I expect & he said I shouldn't feel any pain. Passed some wind earlier & when I wiped it was bright red blood, which I don't like, even tho he said I can pass blood for a week. As far as urine, no visible blood there, so that's good. My rear still hurts somewhat, more like a dull pain. Guess that's about it for now, the initial part was way more painful than I anticipated. about the blood from my rectum any thought.

Hi Guys ! Just to let everyone know I just got a call from the doctor. He said he had great news and a bit of bad news. The great news is that no cancer was detected, the bad news is there were a couple of
abnormal cells & said I should have another biopsy in a year. Other than that, that's it.
Thanks for all your support & hope it works out well for all of you. I will continue to monitor this board
from time to time. I can't thank you enough for all your input & support. I am very relieved.

Great to hear. My biopsy on 8/25 also came back negative. The uro could not really explain why my numbers or so high (11 back in early August) and what the lesion was. I have to go back in 6 months for more tests. Hopefully no more biopsies.
