All I can say is WOW!
I wish I could meet all you guys in person just so I could say
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you..... face to face!
I wanted to give a thought about
research.
I have done a lot of reading out side of this forum here on the
internet, and have asked the doctors a lot of question(I saw two
different RO's and two different Urologist)
I could tell after seeing all 4 doctors that....not only were they not
telling me everything but it was very obvious with all 4,
that they were being bias.....how unfortunate
There was a lot of info outside of this forum to research...and I did,
for many hours. And the information comes from all over the place.
And what you end up with is a lot of facts and information that is still
somewhat fragmented.
What coming to this forum has done in just this one thread...... it has
taken all that information in my head and is forming it into a picture
that is already starting to be more clear.
Yes, you need to talk to the doctors
Yes, you need to do research
(When doing research, look at the dates on articles you are reading
regarding PC treatment, I was reading articles from 2009 and older
before I started checking the dates)
But I believe the very best "structured, relative and updated"
information that you are going to get regarding your PC is in a forum
like this.
You have heard the term: "Buyer Beware" where it is the responsibility
of the buyer to make sure they know everything about
the product
so that they get the right thing. If they are sold the wrong thing, it is
not the sellers fault.
Well, we are all buyers and the product is PCa treatment....and there
is no one else that has more of a vested interest in knowing
everything that can be know about
the product we are buying than
us. Not the doctors...not the outdated articles and writings on PC..no
one!
The Doctors have the same internet and info available to them as we
do, but it is "us" The ones who actually have Prostate Cancer that are
going to do everything we can to know as much as we can about
every type of treatment out there and on top of all that...we are
either in the process of making that decision or have made the
decision and have already gone through a particular type of
treatment so many of us have the first hand experience to share
also....most doctors do not.
Thats why to me this forum is like Gold
So again, I believe research is good and everyone with PC should do
a lot of it...because of it I now know about
EBRT, RALP, RARP, IMRT,
AS, CYBERKIFE, SBRT, IGRT, LDR, HDR Im even reading on Focal
Laser Ablation Surgery along with about
300 other bits of PCa
information.
but I know for myself, outside of having a lot of facts and info in my
head after doing the research and reading I was still left a little foggy
and confused.
So to me this Forum is just as valuable if not more so than any
research I have already done.
So again, I say....Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
