Hi there
I am a 55 year old male, went for my annual physical a week ago and as usual, my doctor did the DRE and ran PSA bloods. My PSA has increased over the past year from 1.8 to 2.8, but the DRE was clear (he said it felt really good, soft and small). I further went for a full abdominal ultrasound and that too revealed a clear prostate.
My doctor is concerned that the PSA trend is on the rise and has put me on 2 weeks of antibiotics and another test then. I should also point out that I had an orgasm less than 48 hours before the test (including anal stimulation). My doc says it may be something "subtle" and I guess he is just being sure, but it has raised my anxiety levels.
My question is whether I need to be concerned and if it is anything, am I likely to have caught it early? How reliable is a clear DRE and ultrasound?
Thanks everyone
MA
