Michael,
Sorry to hear about
the loss of your dad. When someone plays a significate positive role in our lives, their absence leaves a void that cannot be filled again. All good points stated above. For my father, all the other follow-up treatments after radiation returned very little affect on the cancer. Stage III at Diagnosis did not detect cancer outside of the prostate. But, as you said, it could of left the coop at the cellular level. In any case, we'll never know if surgery would have made a difference at decision time.
ATX,
Research as much as you can. This site has some of the most real life experiences with clinical support data. I read many strings to find information that would of taken weeks to find.
Whatever your decision, know what plan "B" and "C" will be if your original treatment fails to kill the Demon. Understand the additional treatment programs (requirements, duration, etc.), side affects and possible chance of affecting the cancer after the initial treatment.
Knowing what you can, or cannot do, after a initial treatment fails to deliver a complete cancer kill is a value to future next actions. Try to make a decision based on solid information/data and not emotions. That way, you can at least know you followed protocol based on what was known "at the time".
Members here speak from their own real life experiences and constant researching, a wonderful source to have.
