Is it more common to be on HT prior to, or concurrent with IMRT?

What's common I'm not sure but in my case I was on ADT (6 month Lupron shots) for about 12 weeks (11/22/2016 - 2/15/2017) before my 44 IMRT treatments began.

My IMRT treatments ran for 9 weeks (2/15/2017 - 4/17/2017), and because the first 6 month Lupron still had another 3 months or so remaining it was also concurrent ADT and post (adjuvant) ADT.

My RO also initially wanted me to have 24 months of adjuvant ADT, but at my last appointment on Aug. 29 he's backed off a bit on that and is okay with 18 months of adjuvant ADT.

I was treated with SBRT/CyberKnife. 5 radiation sessions.
Gleason 9 at age 74.
My RO recommended 2 months HT before radiation and 6 months after.

As far as I know, a recently published 8 year studies do not show that HT adds anything positive to the outcomes. But, the studies had a small sample (100 high risk prostate cancer patients).

Since I was a Gleason 9, I decided to be extra careful and add the hormone deprivation therapy. The 2 months before is said to shrink the prostate and make it both easier to target the prostate cancer and also to make the cancer more susceptible to the radiation.

I consulted with an RO at Columbia P&S who proposed 6 months HT before, IMRT for about 50 sessions, followed by 2 years HT after radiation. That is a typical very careful conservative approach. But, it may be a case of over treatment.
