I had a bone radiated pain really subsided how long does this usually last. or what are the odds they got it all---scans are 2 1/2 mo's out. doc said none if psa stays at <.01 just feels good without that nagging pain Good day to all....NEPOL

Just one dose usually is enough. If pain returns, they can always zap it again. It's not a matter of getting it all (they aren't trying to cure you), it's a matter of relieving pain and preventing fractures. It sounds like it worked well.

Radiation treatment is progressing rapidly..Things are possible today that were unheard of 10 or15 years ago..For treating a single bothersome bone met, SBRT sometimes called 'Cyberknife" can zap the met in 5 treatments and that's that..The cancer in the treated area is killed..Unfortunately, there is a limit to how many mets they can treat that way......Was that the only met the scan revealed?

Back in 10-3-2012, when I was DX with Advance Prostate stage 4, G9, the cancer had eaten away at my T-12. My lower back was so sore, my wife had to help me out of bed every morning! Sometime in the middle of October, I had 10 rounds of radiations. I haven't had any pain since then. November 6, 2013, I had surgery (Kyphoplasty), on my T12 vertebral to rebuild it. As of today, NO More PAIN!

A big thanks to all who got back to answer -- TA .. one hit 14 gys.SBRT -- I did not know they could hit it again.. Fairwind.. one was all they found--bone scan small magnet VA special!!! GPof 4.. good to know no more pain . I complained of the pain all the way through 39 rad. treatments. laying on that hard table would set it off for 3--4 hrs. told my regular VA doc took xray never heard from them again .. uro. finally listened 1 year 4 mo. after rad. second VA special they knew where to look! bingo!! wellness to all---NEPOL

With 14 Gy, I'm sure you'll never need to hit it again - that should take care of it so it will never bother you again. BTW - the organizations that define the standard of care for this (e.g.,NCCN, ASTRO, and ASCO) all now advocate single dose treatment in their most recent guidelines. It sounds like you are getting top quality, state-of-the-art care.

well one more run at you= TA all rad. treatment done at Renown in Reno--. Dr. Hardacre. I told him of pain.. there is nothing he can do without note from VA. He was quite upset when I went to see him to zap the met. Said he was going to ablate it!!! Renown is a stand up place I was going to move treatment there Dr. Hardacre advised me not to as long as VA Dr.'s kept sending me to him and letting me talk with him(nothings free). I have gone this far with just a VA uro. Stay safe.. NEPOL
