Movember?

Yes many here will participate in Movember. A prime veteran poster here reminded everyone and started a list of those that participated last Movember, thanks for the early reminder this year. You could probably find that thread in the "custom search" box at the top center of this Forum page.

I will remember to grow out my wisdom whiskers gray stache Nov 1st.

Interestingly, a young man at my workplace said something about it a week or so ago.

My son told me about it. I've had full beard for years and he now has one too. Hes the one that told me about Movember. Like some of you others have said the youth seem to be very interested, but hes only in mid 20s. He said lets both completely shave on Nov 1 then grow back stache during Nov to start conversation and awareness for prostrate cancer. Cool idea

I talked to my son on the phone again last night and I think we are going to do this together. Shave our full beards completely off Nov 1 and grow a stache for Movember. I have had a full beard for many years. Not quite sure what it looks like under there haha. He said the idea is to have a noticeable change, and that starts awareness discussion. Not sure I know what that discussion is yet. I forgot to ask him and maybe you guys know, what do you do when the month is over?

Oh no, Im sorry. I didn't know it was against the site rules. I didn't know it was a fundraiser. I don't think my son knew there was money involved. He told me it was for prostate cancer awareness. The thing he told me about talking about it, because people don't like to talk about it. I will probably have a call with him again later this week, and I'll tell him no. Not a good idea at this site. Sorry again, my fault.

75 percent of the money they raise goes to funding men's health programs. I guess that could me a lot of different things to different people, but I don't see the conflict with this site.

Movember does not contribute to HW, and it is for fundraising. I quoted the rule above.

I might be misinterpreting what you said initially in response to Nowhereman, but I respectfully disagree with the interpretation or implication that simply wanting to participate in Movember by growing mustaches and making people aware of why we do it would in any way violate any rule here. Technically if no one posts the Link to that organizations website, we have not violated any rule. Frankly I was not aware of any organizational fundraising effort, and have not gone there in the past, I've just doing it 'generically' as you state.

I do respect that Mr. Waite's healing Well site here depends on donations and fundraising and would not want to do anything to diminish or compete here with that. Thanks for pointing that out.

Thank you also for being liberal enough to let posters post about it. Heck we made a big list last year just of the individuals here growing the stache. So I agree with Nowhereman and I will being growing a stache just to make those aware that I have PCa, Sometimes it is hard subject to bring up and discuss with other.

I tried a beard once and it wasn't good. I've had the 'stache for years, and I'm thinking about shaving it off and then let it all go and see how nasty it looks in the first few days.

Thank you for letting us know. I had been unaware there was a fundraising piece to Movember, but now I've found the web site and have given a donation. I guess you can organize a team, but I just gave a general donation.

I'll say I am a bit apprehensive about shaving off my beard tomorrow but I am going to go through with it. Actually, I think it will take a little time so I am planning to do it tonight. I have had a full beard and havent shaved it off in something like 10 years. Not sure what it will look like under there, the change could be big. Talked to a couple other guys at lunch during work and they already knew about Movember and two of them were also going to grow moustaches.

Wish me luck. I thought that there might be more people here who might participate in Movember. It starts tomorrow.

I can't shave off something I've had for 45 years, but I plan to support anything that brings awareness to PCa, including Movember, which is it's primary goal.

IMHO the few good PCa sites around should be working together, for the common good, and I, for one, don't understand the conflict. It all comes back to the almighty buck, I guess.

With all the good that is done on these few sites, I think most all of us would make donations to supplement advertising revenue. Given a bit more transparency, I sure would.
