Year 8 for this G9 guy w/bone mets

It’s been 8 years since I was diagnosed with Gleason 9 PC and like 7 years since bone mets were found. Even still, I’ve been able to go on Intermittant Hormone Therapy (IHT). My PSA is currently undetectable with normal testosterone.

Thank you all for your support and information over the years. HW is and always has been a great discovery for me.

Here’s to the next 8 years.

Congrats. So many newly diagnosed guys come here asking if there's any hope, and you're showing them that there sure is! Forget the next 8 years...let's talk about the next 18 years!

That's great news! Keep it up. It's good to share this to provide hope, especially for those newly diagnosed with high risk cases.

There's a lot of scary stuff out there about these high Gleason score cases, but there is definitely hope!

That is truly amazing, you are awesome, man. That is especially encouraging for me, 5 years to the day, since they found 4 bone mets on my scan, and the inevitable dire prognosis. We are beating the "forecast" to a pulp. keep up the good fight.

Great news. Who is your RO? Is he managing your IADT schedule? Is the off/on cycle based on trigger point PSA readings?

Since Myers retired I see Drake. My RO is local at the Hershey Medical Center—-Mackley... great guy.

Trigger point to start paying attention is any PSA for me.... but probably more based on what scans say.

from anther Gleason-9 guy with bone mets right from the beginning, 9 years back. Like you I am still hormone sensitive and performing intermittent hormonal blockade (iADT) since then, along with some PET scanning and spot radiation. What makes me wonder is, why there are a few patients who are able to perform hormonal blockade with this type of disease setting. Not many but a few. Does it make sense to us to jump in the CHAARTED/STAMPEDE/LATITUDE bandwagon and add Docetaxel or Abiraterone to our iADT protocol?

Prepare for the unexpected and expect to be unprepared.

I think we’re learning that using the newer agents (Zytiga, Xtandi) and the older therapies (Docetaxel) early have a survival benefit. The last time I was on ADT3 it included a few months of Xtandi. I do wonder if I should add Docetaxel the next time I throw the kitchen sink at it.
