Hello
My husband 2 weeks from the prostatecomy
operation.
His last few drops of urine
have reddish tint resembling blood, is it
uncommon?

It is not uncommon. I'd say it is somewhat normal to expect a little blood in the urine after the catheter comes out. The reconnection of the urethra to the bladder has to heal, and that can take a week or two. The color of the urine should lose that pink look soon. Give it some time.

If he starts passing blood clots, that could be a problem and lead to retention. Not good!

Passing a little blood is fairly common, especially just after 2 weeks. Just have him drink plenty of fluids and as long as he can urinate he is doing fine. After 4 weeks should be no blood, but it isn't uncommon to pass a little suture several months after the surgery.

HI Smara, I am 5 weeks post robotic, and I notice a few drops of blood after a bowel movement or if I have been more active than usual. My nurse told me that it is possible to expect this over several months, but only drops as compared to a consistent flow with blood as he may have had with his biopsy.

I too had blood 2 weeks after my surgery 2 Year’s ago. Doctor said it was normal and to be expected for a few weeks after that. Just healing and scabs being passed.

I was passing blood, mostly clots, for about 5 weeks after the catheter came out. Especially after physical activity like walking. I called my Surgeons office, the nurse told me no worries, it's normal, and can last up to 8 weeks.

The random drop of blood was common for me until about three months from surgery. At 3-4 months I passed bits of suture materials.

Yes, together with a difficult bowel movement, there may be a more blood drops, since the same muscles are involved, and the rectum and urethra are very close together.
