Zolodex almost 4 years

I started Zolodex in July 2014, and have had PSA of "0" for 2 years now. I was getting a stable 2-3 hot flashes per day.

Recently, in the last 2 months I have been getting many more per day, perhaps 10-15

I have a new nurse for the injections and it occurs perhaps they are too deep?

Advice please

Da Vinci Nov 2013 w/Chris Ogden UK
Mar 2014 PSA 0.2, Apr PSA 0.33, many urethral problems & procedures
ADT Zolodex goserelin, started July 2014, continuing
33x IMRT started 13 May 2015, complete June 29
PSA < 0.04 since Sept 2015 "undetectable"

Hello Donelson,

I am also on ZOLADEX injections ... and I have requested the once-a-month shots, so that we can make a change in shots, if needed.

I have tried LUPRON, FIRMAGON, and finally ZOLADEX ...

With LUPRON and FIRMAGON, I was experiencing "spikes and flares" in my PSA levels, so my oncologist suggested we try ZOLADEX instead, and my PSA level remained more stable.

Yes, you as the patient have the right to ask for an EXPERIENCED nurse to give the ZOLADEX injection.

Each time I receive an injection, my oncologist requests an experienced chemotherapy nurse who has had specific TRAINING in how to give the ZOLADEX injection. It is a different kind of injection than the FIRMAGON or LUPRON shots.

Be sure to have a conversation with your oncologist ---

Be your own advocate --- and ask for someone who is highly trained.
