The title of this thread is “Warburg effect”. Therefore I would like to mention an alternative treatment whose rationale is based in part on the Warburg effect. There is a French physician, his name is Laurent Schwartz, who developed a treatment that targets the cancer cell metabolism.
This treatment, named Metabloc, consists of a combination of lipoic acid (ALA) and hydroxicitrate (HCA) plus Capsaicin. In some cases Dr. Schwartz adds Metformin and Chloroquine to that.
Here is a link to one of his publications regarding this treatment and
here and
here are additional ones.
I know a castration-resistant PCa patient on ADT who added the Metabloc treatment to that. He uses 1200mg HCA, 450 mg ALA and 0.8 mg Capsaicin distributed over the day.
Metabloc stabilised his PSA value for about
one year, with ups and downs though, delaying the need for Zytiga. Now he added 1000 mg Metformin and his PSA value declined by about
50%.
Another patient took Metabloc using the same combination because he had a rising PSA value after salvage radiation. He had no ADT. He observed that his PSA value stabilised for about
a year.
So it seems that some patients may be able to delay the progression of the tumor this way. I know of some patients with a more advanced tumor where it did not work.
This is an alternative treatment and the observation of two patients only. Metabloc is applied before or adjuvant to a systemic treatment. It will not work as a last resort.
