After years of heavy manual labor and serious weight training, I have always heard, read and believed that the way to rehab after injury ie. surgery was to use the muscles in questions just to the point that you began to feel them ( very very mild pain/sensation ) then back off. If you move to that point each time you will slowly progress. One needs to be in tune with their body and listen to it, not to what someone else thinks.
My advise is to get the snow blower out, fuel it up, start it ( I assume it is self propelled ) do 5-10 feet, shut it down and go take a nap. See how you feel after sitting still for an hour or two. Hurt?? then wait a week and try again, no pain or strain then try 15 feet tomorrow and repeat the nap.
Be well.
