Just got PSA/Free PSA scary

I think it may be to early to say anything. The uro may want to do a few PSA's every 3 month's or so. I would think a DRE. My PSA goes up and down as well. My fPSA was about similar to yours. I didn't get a biopsy until 13 months after my first high PSA of 5.4 and a year of tracking.

Is this your first trip to the Uro?

I went to the urologist today. He pulled out the George Costanza. Cancer!!!?!!, Get outta here!
He went on to say that PSA and fPSA is still being used by GPs but that most specialists now see it as not very helpful when deteriming PCa is most cases. He said that yes it can be the smoke from a fire but that I should not be worried at this point based on his experience.
Because of my age (47) and the fact that I had a UTI that causes spurious results, that I should just come back in the fall for another PSA test and we can go from there.
He didn't say it's definitely not cancer or it definitely is, just that there is time and it's better to take prudent steps before we start taking chunks out of my prostate to test.
I'll try to remember this forum and post back in the fall when I get my test.

All kidding aside, I was really scared for a whole day. My heart goes out to all of you for whom this has become a concrete reality and have to live with it long term.
