PSA Progress 3 1/2 Years after HDR Brachytherapy

My latest PSA of 0.48 is down significantly after 2 years of hovering around between 0.81 and 1.15. I'm not sure if the temporary increases were significant enough to count as bounces, see my #'s below...

Most studies arbitrarily use +0.2 over nadir as a bounce, but I would say, go ahead and consider it a bounce if you want to.

Well, by that definition, I had 1 bounce from 0.92 to 1.13.

Thanks for sharing, I have my 6 week post op doc visit tomorrow. My one question was how long does it take to get to nadir? Your post and history is most informative. Denis

Using only radiation as a primary treatment it can take years to get to nadir. Most men reach it around the three year mark, but many take much longer. The bounce usually occurs from 18-36 months, but varies among men. No set time for either. Depends on you, your cancer, your treatment. So everyone is different.

For me I reached my nadir in 90 days and I have never exhibited a bounce. Why? 36 months of ADT. So the averages and means meant nothing for me since I had ADT due to my risk status.

I took 5 years with several bounces, so I am understandably happy about that.

Six years to nadir for me. I may have had bounces I didn't know about since I only tested annually after the first year.
