PSA slightly high

yes, retest in a few weeks, don't have sex 48 hours before the test.

First you need to rule out lab error so the retest is needed.

all you have is an odd test result. Could be something, could be nothing.

waiting isn't always easy, but that's your best plan, wait for a retest.

Keep riding bike and lifting weights for the next several weeks then take a break for a week and then get another check as SP says chances are there is nothing to worry about you will be fine!

That's good news. PSA due to PC rarely drops like that. Your PSA is more likely due to prostatitis which can be hard to treat and can cause wild swings in PSA.

In any case, other then rechecking your PSA next year, I doubt you have much to be concerned about.

so go back to your bike riding, heavy lifting and sex (well, maybe not all three at the same time).

Well, I forgot to mention that my bladder seems a little bit sensitive and there is a slight pain when I urinate, but not much. Both of my kidneys seem ok, but they may be a little tender at time.

So, today, I tried to get an appointment with my urologist but he was on vacation and the NP that I know was booked. I saw a nurse and she took a look at my urine and said that it was clear with no RBC's or bacteria. She is going to send it off for a culture and will call me in a couple of days.

I started thinking about my situation and I realized that my troubles actually started a few weeks ago when I went on vacation with our daughter. We took a 16 hour drive to Phoenix for spring training and we drove 4 and 5 hours between stops and my bladder was in pain at times. Since we had kids in the car that were asleep, we didn't want to stop. My bladder did hurt for a few days after being expanded without relief for such a long time.

So, is there any chance that I hurt myself by holding it in for so long and can this cause one's PSA to elevate and prostatitis to set in?

*******UPDATE********

I spent yesterday afternoon in an ER with a 5mm kidney stone. It was 90% down my ureter and almost into my bladder when I was discharged with the morphine still in effect. I haven't passed it yet and my urologist reviewed the pictures and the report and said that since I'm pain free now, it is most likely in my bladder waiting to get out.

I'm going to put off my PSA test for another week. I'm no urologist, but I kinda figure that since things are certainly inflamed, it might be better to let my urinary tract settle down. Also, I'm hopeful that my elevated PSA was a reaction to things starting to go south below my belt.
