This is an in vitro study, but if you were going to Africa some places they would give you Chloroquine regardless of prostate cancer. Personally, I will be taking this when Casodex begins to fail.

"Taken together, our data suggest that autophagy is a protective mechanism against androgen deprivation in HRPCa cells and that chloroquine could restore hormone dependence. This set of data could lead to the development of new therapeutic strategy against HRPCa."

I also note this:

"The strategy is currently being tested in clinical trials, and preliminary results are promising. The catch, though, is that it's not always possible to give patients a high enough dose of hydroxychloroquine to have an effect on their tumor cells."

The supplements wormwood and Artemisinin are similar malaria herbs.  I have taken these myself for possible prophylaxis.

"Available scientific evidence does not support claims that wormwood is effective in treating cancer, the side effects of cancer treatment, or any other conditions. The plant contains a volatile oil with a high level of thujone (see Thuja). There are reports that taking large doses of wormwood internally can cause serious problems with the liver and kidneys. It can also cause nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, headache, dizziness, seizures, numbness of the legs and arms, delirium, and paralysis.

Wormwood, or Artemisia absinthium, should not be confused with sweet wormwood, or Artemisia annua. Although wormwood is related to sweet wormwood, they are used in different ways. Extracts of sweet wormwood have been used in traditional herbal medicine, and an active ingredient, artemisinin, is now used in conventional medical treatment of malaria."

My flow rate continues to decrease, and bladder capacity as well.

What could cause this?

Since you have just completed radiation, you can expect some urinary and possibly bowel issues for a while..You should see an improvement after 60 days or so..Watch for blood clots in your urine stream..Mine turned out to be a bladder stone which my urologist removed..That procedure put me into urinary retention and a weekend trip to the ER to be catheterized. No problems since then..

Since my last update:

In May-June 2015 I had 33 treatments IMRT. Starting in September I had a severe reaction to the IMRT and felt like I 'aged 10 years in one week'.

I was put on Zolodex injections once every 4 weeks in March 2014 and continue today.

My PSA declined after IMRT until by early 2016 my PSA was undetectable. I remain on Zolodex "if it works don't fix it" and tolerate it pretty well.

Two years now with PSA essentially 0. Not bad!

I had a number of urethral and bladder treatments. In Feb 2018, I had a 1" bladder stone removed via laser lithotripsy. There was an Easter Egg surprise, though.....

Inside the bladder stone they found a 1/4" plastic surgical clip! Must have been from the radical prostatectomy in Nov 2013. That would explain much of the bladder/urethral troubles I have had over the last 4.5 years.

It's gone now and I'm finally starting to feel better.
