Back in 2011 when I got my AMS 800 artificial urinary sphincter I also got the the AMS 700 IPP in the same operation all covered by medicare. Now with me needing a revision to the AUS and having the IPP fail, I was expecting to have another dual operation. Now the same doctors are saying that medicare will only pay for two separate operations. Does anybody have any insight on this.

That is great that Medicare will pay for both but not in the same OR trip.
Comparing to most private insurance companies which won’t pay a dime (like my Insurance); you are in way better position. Twice OR and twice anesthesia will cost Medicare more then if it is done at same tame.

as of yet I have not been found medicare's rules that require two separate surgeries I did see that if the same dr. does both operations he gets paid 50% of the rate for the second op. Doesn't make sense to me cost or any wise.
