Reads like you found a great urologist. AS worked well for me up through my final decision. As my urologist brought up to me, a rebiopsy at some point is an important part of an AS program.

Don't spend too much time in front of your computer and get some healthy sunshine and air. Excercise was an integral part of my AS time.

My doctor ran an OncoType DX GPS genetic test on my cores and it came back with a score of 12 which he said places me in the “Very Low Risk” category. It reaffirms my confidence in going the AS route. In fact, he said it means I have just a 1% chance for both metastasis or death from PC in the next 10 years. Because I’m on the somewhat younger side of diagnosis it gave a 16% lifetime chance of metastasis but right now I’m just looking at the 10 year number.
Once again I want to thank everyone here for the wonderful support and advice. Especially, since my inlaws and workmates have told me flat out for the last few weeks I am an idiot with a death wish for not seeking treatment. I am really surprised by the resistance to AS and wonder just how many men have been influenced by others who think every cancer needs to to cut out or radiated immediately.

I think friends and family that urge treatment are very well-meaning and want to show their support. And "cancer" sure has a bad brand. But like most things in the world, it's not always what it looks like at first. Glad you landed in a good place and I hope your stay on AS is long...and may I even venture to add permanent!

OK, good deal! Since the question of your thread title is "What's next", I would say, basically, nothing. If it is possible to win the lottery while being told you have PC, you have done so. The main thing right now, IMO, is that you don't do any thing rash that you might have many years to regret. You have lot's of time - many months at least- to research your options- AS, surgery, RT and their various success rates and side effects and decide which approach is for you. And also get some 2nd opinions, including on your Bx slides.

Congrats on your Bx results. If you have to be told you have cancer, that is the kind of results you want to see. The kind that are shouting "Don't panic, take your time, and you might not even need to do anything but keep an eye on it"!

Hello convertible68,

I want to suggest you to have 3t mp MRI test. I also was diagnosed with PC few month ago with similar findings. This test will help you and your doctor understand if there is more then one lesion in prostate and if there is extracapsular extension. All these information will help to do fusion biopsy in next 6 to 12 months if you decide to take AS path.
