It's been 7 weeks since my husband's surgery and his recovery is progressing well.
At the 3.5 - 4 week mark, we had a little setback with urinary infection and swollen left leg.
Back on Cipro he went, for the infection, and it cleared up. He didn't have any symptoms for the infection.
The swollen leg, we are told, is due to the 19 lymph nodes taken out, 13 on the left side. All we can do is keep it elevated and wear a compression sock.
So walk a lot, but keep the leg elevated.
And then do kegels.
(The continence is getting better...)
The swelling has gone down, thankfully. While it was swollen, I told him, "what smooth skin you have!"
He also has a numb spot on his left upper inner thigh that was noticeable from the time the catheter was taken out and hasn't gone away... we were told it's probably from the 'surgical positioning'. Hopefully it will go away in time.
At the 6-week follow-up appointment, we got the all-clear for increased activities like swimming and being able to lift heavier loads. Woohoo!
My husband was truly like a fish out of water for the past few weeks, and he is back in his element now.
His PSA came back as 0.008. To be undetectable, it would have to be <0.006. We were told it could still be going down still... we hope.
Thank you all again for your support and be well.
