I'm taking Flomax "Tamsulosin" 0.4mg....
As a rule I go to bed 9pm, Get up to urinate at 11:30 and 2:30.
The last two night's I have had to urinate 6-7 times a night, roughly once an hr....
My RO yesterday said we will more likely have up the dose....
Anyone have any insight to the sudden additional trips to the head....

With the urinary issues I've had, I must say I'm lucky the night time frequencies have not been a problem for me. I was originally given flomax and when it didn't seem to be doing much good my urologist bumped me up to two a day. Pharma guy indicated more is not necessarily better, but it shouldn't hurt. It didn't help most likely because mine was due to a stricture in the urethra. At any rate he gave me oxybutin (or something like that) for overactive bladder to help while I had the catheter in. What that did more than anything for me was to help with the sense of urgency to pee.

Have you started RT?

That could do it, more/different meds should do it.

MG....ive been taking flomax now since the end of my rads ....for the most part , it`s 2...maybe 3 times a night, but have had a few nights like you with 4-5 maybe.......I think it all depends on the liquid intake and the amount of FOOD stuffed in me that makes a difference.....funny how it all can vary so much for time to time .....just my take on the subject ....David

MG0351 you might try this. I had an old Urologist tell me, no drinking liquids after 7 PM & no alcohol after 5 PM. Both will make you pee. This might reduce you getting up. I never had any luck with flow max and a couple of hours. However, I drink a lot of water at night and have a couple of glasses of wine, and old and use to it.

68 yrs., marathon runner, PSA .012, 8.12.18, 1.42 June 18, 2018 (Lupron 5.21.18 & 8.15.18), 12.7 May 2018, 13.7 Jan. 2018, 2.1 May 2012. SpaceOar 9.6.18, testosterone <.7, 8.15.18, Tot Mayo 19 ng .17 testosterone Free 6.18.18, Gleason 3+4=7 involving 15% of the right apex and 15% of the right mid, 3+3=6 prostate cancer involving 5% of the left base. Pathology interpretations by John Hopkins, UNM Cancer, and SF Path 3+4=7 or 4+3=7 MD Anderson Proton Center w/o %. T3 MRI 1.8 lesion left side 5P, Neg. Bone Scan. Prolaris test 3.5 consistent with intermediate and a PTEN test negative. Father PC age 78 RT & ADT now 93 yrs. Neurogenic bladder due to lumbar disk disease and recurrent bladder neck contracture with urinary retention man. 20 years doing catheterizations. TURP & scaring 2003, Finasteride 5 milligrams daily since 2002.

All I can say is I've been there, done that as well. I went on Flowmax about a year before my surgery. It helped a lot with my stream but didn't effect my frequency. Prostetectomy in 2015.

Last Christmas, I began going to the bathroom 6 or 7 times a night. Sometimes I'd go, lay down...and it wouldn't be more than 30 mins before I had to go again. In the daytime it seemed as if it settled down to pretty much normal. When it was time to see my uro....it kinda went away. (Miracle healing....just the thought of going to the doc). He checked me out and told me that I had good good no restriction and empty bladder.

Sorry to end this on an anti-climatic note....but....I really do not remember what he said about it. It had mostly gone away by the time I went to see him. But he wasn't impressed....whatever it was he said. I stayed OK for a couple of months. Then it started again a little bit in the spring but went away after just a few nights. I've been fine ever since.

That's my "going to the bathroom alot" story.

No help I know. But....anyway....it is what it is and it was what it was.....whatever it was...it's gone.

MG.... I'm like that once a week or so go to bed at 8,9,10 depends on how tired get up 1/2 later to go back to bed up in an hr and go again then other nites just my normal get up every two to three hrs to go. The new normal I call it. I tried Flomax for a couple of months didn't do anything so threw them away. I take alleve for my back pain a lot of nites ( degenerative disc disease ) haven't really trended to see if these are the nites I do better or not. JMHO

Before I ever had treatment I had nocturia, usually 2- 3+ times a night. It was one of the reasons I sought treatment. Turns out I had an enlarged prostate with prostate tissue partially blocking the urethra.

After treatment, no more enlarged prostate or blockage but nocturia continues. Uro says, "well because of the treatment, this may be the new normal for you", but doctor, "I had this before treatment." So he wasn't much help. I was prescribed a drug, Myrbetriq I think it was, but never took it due to the potential side effects.

It's difficult to know the actual cause. I keep one of those hospital urinals on the night table, can almost use it while sleeping, helps not having to physically get out of bed, but the waking from sleep is still not healthy.

Drinking no fluids a few hours before bedtime, and limit spicy foods later in the evening can help. New normal I guess. Once we pass our prime for procreating, we have outlived our intended purpose and the disintegration begins, the great cycle of life and impermanence, embrace it while you can

I initially went to my doctor because I had to pee 5-6 times per night. So they checked my prostate and found It slightly swollen. The biopsy showed PC. IT WAS REMOVED 9/17. It has been more than Ayer since surgery but I still had to pee every night. It grew to 10-15 times a night, often just 0.5 - 1 oz.

I assumed it was the glass of wine I had at bedtime. So I moved my wine intake to 5pm with no success.

I retired 2 yrs ago. My wife and I have coffee every morning for 2 hrs. When I reduced my coffee to 1 cup/day in the AM and no coffee or caffeinated beverages the rest of the day, I regained my sound sleep.!!!

Quiting coffee will be rough, I have been drinking it since I was about 5, I like my 3 cups in the morning....

yeah, not easy to give up, but if you restrict it to earlier in the day and follow up with water, that might be enough.

sadly normal changes in this game.

All depends on how much and what you drink.

I usually stop drinking soda pop by 7:00. I get up twice a night and am ready to pee again at 5:30 when I get up.

But if I drink late, or drink more usually get up at least four times -- tiring!!!!!!!!!!!

Strangely I found that if I drink an alcoholic beverage early, me pees will be fewer but bigger. about 12 oz vs no alcohol < 8 oz

I had my 27th treatment today, and in my 4th month of Lupron. I have stopped drinking anything after 7 PM or so, and now I only get up once or twice at night. I mostly drink lemon water, and do not drink any alcohol during the week.

For me, having certain fruits in the evening triggered urgency, especially watermelon and cantaloupe. Avoiding citrus fruits and other very acidic fruits might help you. I drink mostly decaf - coffee and tea. The caffeine increases urgency
