Anyone considering treatment options in Denver?

I was diagnosed last year T1c after 12 core biopsy PSA 4.1 at TUCC Denver
3 cores positive G6 3+3 My specimens were sent to CA. for genetic testing and were found to be GPS 37 Favorable Intermediate Risk. Active surveillance was my choice with 3 month PSA's.
My PSAs were:
3.4 11/17
3.1 2/18
2.6 5/18
3.7 8/18
I have had a MRI with and without contrast and an MRI infusion 20 core biopsy 9/18 I believe 8 were targeted at the lesion core and 12 normal field cores. 5 cores were positive G6 3+3 one G7 3+4 5%. I will verify today. I got the results over the phone and had slight memory blackout overload.
I was told by my URO that treatment would be advised. So, here I am with all the questions and anxiety that comes with it over treatment options for my scenerio.

I've been searching this site but haven't come up with any recent posts in my area of the country. I know treatment advancements are being made all the time. I have a consultation with a surgeon and a radiation oncologist at TUCC today and later this week. My stomach is churning!

Welcome to HW, sorry you need to be here.

Getting the DX is a kick in the head and sure turns your world upside down. There's a lot to learn about this PC, so take the time you need to that and let your emotions settle a bit.

I don't know that area, but others will be along soon with more info.

Glad you're talking to both a surgeon and RO. In your case, any of the main line treatments would work. Personally I think SBRT is a great choice, but you need look at all your options before deciding. Actually choosing what to is the hardest part of this game.

HF5280, I live in the Denver area. I don't have any experience with TUCC but they have an impressive looking website and facility. I had my surgery and srt done here in town. My surgeon and URO is Dr. Ali Sarram at Advanced Urology. He was recommended by my PCP. He did an excellent job in my opinion. I had very few side effects. He referred me to Dr. Barry Blyton with Century Cancer in the tech center. I had a good experience there as well.There is also a University of Colorado cancer center at the Anschutz campus and Rocky Mountain Cancer Center on S. Potomac street. Both are in Aurora. Just make sure you do your homework when choosing doctors. I just kind of went with the flow when I started and fortunately it all worked out. I did most of my research after the fact.

Talked to the surgeon today Dr. Ruyle. He sounds like the right fit if I do choose surgery. Has done 1600 RRP's and says his incontinence rates are very low. He says my particular cancer scenario would be a perfect candidate for a very successful surgery with minimal side effects. On to the RO consult on Wednesday.

Met with the RO this morning. He wants to treat my cancer like a high risk case only because of the GPS score so ........seeds, 20 rounds IMRT, hormones for 6 mo. or 6 rounds PBRT with 2 years of hormones. Same risks as surgery with incontinence and impotence with all the hormone blockage.

I'm leaning toward surgery at this point......get it out, see what it really is....deal with the rest that goes with it. You guys have all been in my shoes so I'm glad there is all this info here to make things easier to deal with whats ahead.

My wife was a nurse/ practice manager/ for an ED urology practice for 31 years so I have that.

In your case either would work.

Hey HF5280 -
I am in the Denver Area and TUCC will be handling my surgery. Dr. Christopher Dru.

He seems a bit young, but has performed 300+ RPs.

Maybe we'll see you in a waiting room sometime!
