After seeing/using the new forum format: some comments

Some observations after seeing/using the new forum format for a little bit. Feel free to post some of your own below.

LIKE:

More spacious feel to the layout (sometimes parts of the earlier version
maybe did have a somewhat cramped feel to them)

More color, and good choice of color at that (relaxing shades)

On-screen instructions seem to be more succinctly worded than before, and
some of them easier to understand and follow.

The "Diseases and Conditions" page is well laid out, and easy to navigate

Within threads, the "Post Quick Reply" box seems larger than before
(good) and seems more apparent to the user than before

Leftmost area of screen: future use of personal avatars, etc. there is
intriguing

MAYBE CHANGE:

Bringing cursor over an icon or such and leaving it there causes a little
pop up message telling what it is (does)

The "replies" and "views" data on right side of screen could be
highlighted more. Maybe same for names of posters under thread titles on
left side

Maybe clarify with labels: leftside circular icons (the thumbtack is
self-explanatory, but what IS that symbol in the lower circular ones?);

Also, clarifying on screen "*Last Seen" on right (defining more what it means) might help

Maybe add "Move to screen" before number string (now ending in 1374) at
upper right

On the whole, I like the new format.

Just a few initial thoughts. Anyone else spot something worth a mention?

Might be nice on an iPhone, or iPad, but on a 24" 1900 x 1200 monitor it sucks. The fonts are too large!

First Tall Allen and now this. I agree with lapilot, although I am old and not crazy about change. However, if we could get Tall Allen back, I'll do my best to adapt!

1) I like the large fonts, Guess that's what makes the world go round.
2) What happens you press the "control" button at the same time as the "minus" button?(the button to the right of zero)
It should decrease your font size.

I tried to edit above post...was logged in and edit page never came up...new software glitch? it is a new post... after Mods edit tho the 5 words spliced with the ellipse are in the post edited by Mods as well... I will try to edit this post


Now that worked with a short pause first...I will try again on the shorter post that is precedent to this non delf edited

I like the suggestions of 81guy and I’m fine with the new format. Not so much with either the direction of this discussion or the absence of TA.

Its working fine...probably always was...still asleep....onward and upward...on this thread or the original thread of the Administrator....ghosts are spirits..without portfolios....

Finally found a faults with new format. When posting a reply, you can no longer scroll up to see other posters comments, while you are editing your post or reply. Missing that.hope they fix it or post something I am missing doing!

Also the custom search box that I relied on to search for my prior posts, once it worked fine, now it rolls over to internet search and searches the whole internet for like phrase articles instead of just the HW Site! maybe that one in my own computers glitch. Dont know for sure, just frustrating.

The previous posts that I have viewed shows up on the left of the post very light, and the words last seen appear, but, but need need more contrast or highlight to show the difference, with all the post that I pass over.

Also those text color change boxes and the italics, still cant figure out haw to use them.(I use word at work, and I grad-i-ated college, but still seem to be mystified)

Also I almost never use the iphone to look up HW, the screen is to darn small for my old eyes. So no advantage there, still likin the old site format much better.

Wings.. you said it better than I could I hate that we can't scroll up and down anymore while posting a reply it was so convenient if you didn't remember a name or something that somebody had said. And I miss the emoj's on the side kinda wasted space there.

A dislike that caught me the other day: I was responding to a thread using the Quick Reply box--which is my general mode of action. When I hit submit, I was notified that I could not post because I was not logged in. In the old system, if you were not logged in, the quick reply box was not there. Not apparently so anymore.
