Thanks everyone, It sure has been a blessing finding this site....
Ya know if my appointment was at 11 instead of 0945 it would have been the same time WW1 ended 11 month 11 day 11 hour....

As you already know, there is a considerable wealth of experience here on the forum regarding RT treatment. Of course your RO should be your first source of information for answering any questions that you may have, but after that I would strongly suspect that the cumulative RT knowledge right here on this forum is such that it can serve to answer just about anything else you may be wondering about.

Because so many of us here have "been there, done that."

Any RT questions? Just ask away!

Goodluck with your RT. How many sessions are you scheduled to have? I'm kind of surprised that they are starting you on a Sunday. Will they be giving you weekends (or some days midweek) off, or do they intend to do them 7 days a week? I certainly looked forward to not having to go in for treatment sessions on the weekends while I was receiving my RT. Fwiw my first RT session was on a Wednesday so the first week was a short one and that kind of helped ease me into the routine.

Well, First one is done 44 to go....
My first was today, because on Fri, they have maintenance to do....For now on it's M-F....
They gave me a card to scan when I come in, After scan I go to patient waiting room, I do not have to change into gown, Get on table, Lower pants a little and fry that beast....
I felt a little light headed and a little weird....In and out in 15 minutes, And I didn't miss much Church.
And so tomorrow morning will be #2..

Good luck, MG. I haven't been through IGRT/IMRT yet so can't offer any tips other than to breathe and still find the positive in each day.

It's a funny feeling, that slight dizziness, funkiness, whatever after a radiation session. Some of it may be from laying really still for 10 minutes or so, but some is from the radiation. My RO said it may really be due to the radiation dose. You can't directly feel radiation at the levels used for therapy, but your body can sense that something happened. It's not a profound effect, but I too definitely felt "funny" after a radiation session.

It's a marathon, but it becomes quite routine after a while. Do tell your RO if you develop any issues after a couple of weeks. It can happen, and they have ways to help with most symptoms. Here's hoping your radiation therapy is really boring!

For me the first week had the most SEs then it was all routine. I showed up 5 days a week for 8 weeks, got to know everyone and then one Tuesday afternoon it was just over. Be prepared for the possible let down at the end. It's hard to explain but I missed the routine and people. It's also a time when you've done what you can and then you just sit back and wait for the PSA tests,kind of a helpless feeling.
You'll do fine. Have them play some good music. They played Grateful Dead for me and it got to where I slept through the treatments.
I go back Tuesday for my 1 month followup. It will be nice to visit everyone again probably for just a few minutes, they stay busy.

good luck.. I been going 3 weeks and so far.. piece of cake.. although had diarrhea this weekend.. might be something else tho.. Ed

I have completed 26 treatments and have18 to go. It truly has become a routine. Today I had an appointment at a different time and it kinda threw me off a bit--I began to enjoy the routine.

So far the SEs have been mild--burning when urinating, but the RO prescribed some great pills for that. You will get to know all of the noises that the machines make very soon.

As my RO use to say, "We have potions and lotions - what do you need?" Complain to the RO/techs/nurses about everything that doesn't feel right. Most problems you'll run into have simple solutions.

#3 down and gone....
I talked to the Dr. today, Apparently Tuesday is consultation day....I mentioned that I get light headed when I get up off of the table....

I take BP meds and I got very light headed after being on the table. By the end of treatment it was bad enough that the techs wouldn't let me sit up on my own. They'd call on the speaker, "We're done, stay there, I'll be right there to help you up."

Then they'd send in the two biggest techs on duty to pull me to a sitting position.

Just the weirdest thing.
