As part of the protocol for his clinical trial, Randy gets a sub-q Lupron injection (3 month) in his stomach. There is always a lump at the injection site which goes down a few weeks after the injection. He got his quarterly injection 2 weeks ago, but the lump from the previous injection still hasn't gone down. Does anyone else here get the sub-q injections? Have you had this happen?

I get sub-q lupron injections every three months - they give me mine in my hips. There is a lump as that is the time release of the lupron over the 3 months. They alternate hips on my injections, but the previous one is still there when I get the subsequent injection. I think it is just the carrier for the lupron - it does go away eventually.

I also usually have pain at the injection site for a couple of weeks, and the last two injections had a fever / aches pains kind of reaction to the stuff.

I can't wait to be done with my 18 month lupron sentence.

I had a few injections of Eligard next to my navel. It leaves a marble sized lump and would persist at least a month. When they came out with Lupron in six month doses we switched. The Lupron was much less viscous and was administered in my hip. Usually hurt but no lump.

I get monthly Firmagon injections, not Lupron, but administration is similar -- a slow injection in the belly that leaves a hard oval lump. Because I get monthly shots they alternate sides every month. I'm due for a shot tomorrow and can still feel last month's lump with my fingers, though quite a bit smaller than when injected.This is pretty typical of my experience. If I poke around thoroughly I can sometimes find a bit of a lump left from up to a couple of months ago. They do get smaller and they do gradually go away.

I was diagnosed on Halloween of this year and have been told by two radiologists, one proton and one traditional, that I would have to have hormone therapy for 12 to 24 months if I opted for that. The surgery route, according to my surgeon, would avoid the hormone therapy and the second line of defense, if needed, would be radiation. Also, I've been informed that if you radiate initially that surgery is a very very difficult procedure and that 99% of the searches won't attempt to remove the prostate what is been radiated. Does anyone have any thoughts about what I've just said? This is been a very difficult decision for me because I have a 52-year-old fiancé and I'm 67, a very young 67, that doesn't want to be on the couch constantly with low T

You probably had no choice, but most have less trouble with Lupron injections in the thigh. Done that way my side effects (from the shot itself) lasted about a day. A skilled nurse to properly administer the shot is important as well (and the Left/Right protocol).

I've had my 6-month injections in the rear of the hip. It's sore for a day or two but I have not noticed a lump. Guess I've been fortunate with good nurses.

I get 6 month Lupron shots. More like a silver dollar pancake than a "lump", and it lasts. Never occurred to me to care how long it lasted, but I notice it at times. I've never had significant side effects from the injection itself other than a bit of soreness on the drive home if I get the one lab nurse who doesn't really understand how to do the injection.

I get mine in my hip, always the same general spot.

My Prolia goes in the gut every 6 months.

Hi, I'm new to the Lupron and not familiar with the types of shots, but my first one was in the hip. It didn't hurt much at first, but did cause a little soreness the following 2 days.
