Physical at family doctor felt hard prostate. Blood test next day PSA 0.5. Ultra sound Thursday , Nov. 15th found a 1.8 cm (.7 inches) nodule in upper right prostate. No prior symptoms.
Since ultra sound I now have pain in abdominal area on right side. Getting worse.
Family doctor wanted to do a MRI but insurance denied. Family doctor refered me to Urologist. My appointment isn't until next Wednesday , Dec 5th.
Of course I am afraid and convinced I have PC and that it is aggressive considering the size of the nodule. I get the DRO every year and it wasn't there last year so I am assuming it grew that big in 12 months or less. Any words of wisdom or advise ?

I am new to this form, but this my story. Nov. 2017 had PSA test was 4.5. By May PSA was 5.5. Urologist felt a nodule, had biopsy 6 out of 12 was cancer 1/2 of prostate. Had RP surgery on 6/13/18. 1st. PSA test was .01 will have 2ed. one in 2 weeks. Now I have ED, mood swings and only a little dribble now and then. Hard time controlling flow when going pee.

Hey Greg....welcome man. Sorry for your trouble. A couple of questions....

1) Are you sure your PSA is 0.5 and not 5.0? (.5 is a very low PSA for any prostate cancer).
2) How old are you?

Now my observation.....

You pain is not from Prostate Cancer. That would be very unusual if it were.

welcome HW. You got something, PC isn't likely it. as IT mentioned, .5 isn't much PSA and PC pain would be in the bones and you're would be in the 100s. PC doesn't grow fast and a hard prostate could be caused by a number of things that aren't cancer.

Your prostate is centered, not on the right side. abdominal pain on the right side is more likely to be something like gallbladder, kidney, not prostate.

My words of wisdom - see the URO, if the pain gets worse, call your doctor, and stop thinking it's cancer. Let the docs do their checks.

Yes , defenately 0.5 , I had nurse clarify that. I am 58 years old. I really appreciate the feed back. I will let you all know what he says. Thanks again and god bless.

I'm not a doctor, but pain isn't good. There's a lot of stuff on the right side of your abdomen that can cause pain - sometimes severe. The last time I had a bad pain in my right side the ER doc took out my gallbladder.

Prostates tend to be boring - except during sex.

I agree with the others. At .5 you ain't dying of prostate cancer. I'd argue with the insurance company about that scan though. Sounds like something's going on.
