bbqdude - Tennessee is a great place for BBQ fans! I've told people good BBQ is so popular in TN you may even find it at a gas station. Willie Mae's in Springfield has the best, THE BEST, smoked brisket you'll ever find. Sigh.... living in Michigan now, that's one of the things I miss most about
Tennessee!
I considered the care I received at Vanderbilt to be quite good. The urologist I had left there to head up the Urology department at U of Oklahoma. They have some good people at Vandy, and a seemingly well-run Urology clinic. My rad onc at Vandy was Dr. Shinohara; he and I worked together well. I have lots of questions, and he was very patient with his answers.
If I may suggest, a few days after your appointment, stop by the medical records office there at Vandy. They'll give you a hard copy of anything in your file. In 2013, the hard copy letters were FAR more detailed than the terse summaries that showed up on the patient portal
myhealthatvanderbilt.com. If you have scans, you can request those on CDs too. They'll come with a reader you can use on your computer if you want to do so.
(BTW, I agree with your comment about
people sparring on your thread. It's an unfortunate part of our forum, where we seem to have crusaders that just can't help themselves. Be sure to use the "ignore user" function if it starts to stress you out. I have.)
