Hi guys,
I am writing this post both for inspiration and experience-sharing between the members.
My Dad's PSA was horribly doubling monthly within the 2 months after latest Chemo and reached to 4 digits(while on chemo, PSA number was stable but never went down). So the onco put him on Zytiga for 2 months. Sadly his PSA was still doubling every month and he was in very poor condition, he totally lost his appetite and a lot of weight, the tests showed low blood counts (even less than numbers he had during chemo, so they had to do the blood transfusion once to improve his hemog. from 8 to 9). Anyways after 2 months the oncologist confirmed the side effect of any treatment would be too much for him and therefore stopped all treatments, asking him to rest for a month and come back the next month with the new PSA.
During the rest time, I traveled from Canada to my home country to see him, I took him to a MD(specialist) and asked him to give my dad some antidepressant and appetite boosting pills. He gave my dad one for each case.
After taking the pills his mood and appetite started improving in 5 days. Now after 10 days he is sleeping much less and eating much more. His skin and eyes color is turning from pale yellow to normal and he has relatively more energy. Now he even looks more cheerful and positive.
Just for the record, before that he was talking about
his life coming to end though he barely talked. He used to sit in his room without turning on the lights, all alone in the dark and refused to go out all together.
Today we got his new blood test results and found out that his PSA is dropping more than %10 without any treatment which is odd, since during his 2 year struggle with PCa, any break between the treatments(Chemos, medicines, surgery) ended up having his PSA number not almost, but exactly doubled per month.
We are so happy for him and he is so happy himself, too. His onco suggested Lutetium 177 after his treatment break. We will meet him tomorrow and hopefully it will be done soon, too.
I will keep posting as some of you guys might be interested in this therapy.
Thanks for reading the long post and all the best for all PCa patients and their families who visit this forum.
