Hi guys:

I haven't posted in quite a while. Cinqo de May (5/5) is my actual surgery date, but I had blood drawn a couple weeks ago, and asked them to include a PSA check. It was negative, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say I'm a zero for the eleventh consecutive year. - I'm 63 and I've been retired for 2 years now, after the traumatic spring of 2017 when I had a shoulder replacement which led to a double hematoma (bleeding on both sides of the brain), and was then diagnosed with Parkinson's. THAT was a lousy spring. But I'm doing very well - driving and functioning pretty much like a human being. If you had lunch with me, you'd never know anything was wrong. But I can't throw a ball any more (no biggie), if I forget something I declare brain damage, and I drag my left foot a bit from Parkinson's. - Life is good. I wish you all the very best of outcomes, and remember to be kind to yourself.

Good for you, kragman! I see you were a G9 on post op path. Is surgery your only PC treatment? Whatever, 11 years out and still OK is about as good as it gets!

The study was to show that surgery alone was a viable option for hi-risk patients. I was considered hi-risk due to my Gleason score.

Your positive attitude is a true inspiration, kcagman. You may not be able to throw a ball anymore, but your doing a remarkable job of handling life's inevitable curve balls.

I hope guys agonizing over their 3+3 G or obsessing over anticipated SRT because of a .003 PSA can learn a lesson from you.

Nice results, did you have any adverse conditions after the surgery such as a positive margin or any of the other risk factors? Just wondering what the study considered for going with surgery alone at G9. Seems reasonable if nothing else going on.

Hmmm...your biopsy Gleason was 7. How was that considered high risk? The post-op came back 9. (just like me). Anyway doesn't matter because you are a zero hero. Congrats.

I had negative margins post surgery. I believe I was considered hi-risk because of my rapidly rising PSA. From 2.5 to 3.7 in something less than a year. At the time, with a Gleason 6, you had all kinds of options. At a Gleason 7, all kinds of red flags went up, and they urged me to do something quick. I don't know if that theory has changed or not. - Adverse conditions post surgery: He had to "scrape" my prostate off of the rectal wall, so my anus felt like somebody had kicked me there with a sharp boot for about 6 weeks. I fought incontinence & ED for months. But eventually things got back to pretty near normal.
