darn Tud you're stilI here? I haven't looked in here in ages. I thought you would be gone. Is Purgatory still with us? My cryosurgery was so successful I rarely give my still working but smaller prostate a thought anymore. Now my biggest health problems are my arthritic knees. Still can play golf but now must ride in a cart. Just another bad chapter with ageing. Not much more to say but I have to admire all the effort you have given this forum over many many many years.

hey Ziggy, now there's a blast from the past.

still here, don't post often. still have PC,, but last year or so, been fighting stage 3 Parkinson's - really kicking my butt. hope you are faring well

Purg, It's wonderful to see you're still here. Parkinsons now? Man you just can't get a break. I admire your fortitude all these years. I doubt I would stay as tough as you have displayed. Was your lawsuit ever resolved? I hope justice was served and you received a large settlement. Sorry to be so abrupt but I'm catching up here after like a 7 year absence. It appears I haven't posted here since 2012.

Hi Ziggy, it's great to hear from you! Yeah, I'm still around after almost 11 years. Even though my cure is long in the past and my SE's are non-existent, I'm moderating as a small way of paying back for all of the warmth and help I got from HW when I first arrived.

A lot has changed since you were active here. You'll remember that when you started the site was so pro-surgery that you were ridiculed for trying a non-surgical alternative for your cure. I got a lot of the same for my choice of LDR Brachytherapy. These days it's a lot more balanced and there are many active men (and ladies) whose choice was one of the radiation alternatives like HDR Brachy or SBRT that have gained widespread acceptance since you and I started on HW. In fact some feel that the balance on this site has tipped to folks who favor radiation options. The biggest change that I see is that almost all members here (whether they used radiation or surgery) have a common message to newcomers namely take your time and get educated, get an expert reading on your biopsy slides, explore options for treatment and choose an experienced doctor for a final choice.

Sorry about the arthritis but I'm really happy to hear you are doing well on the PCa front. But I'm not at all surprised. We still don't have many here who have chosen the focal therapy approach so I wish you would stick around and provide some information and experience to those who might qualify for that.

Tud I think you have way overpaid now with your assistance and comfort given than what you received here. It don't surprise me my tft hasn't been too popular. With 20/20 hindsight I'd probably would've chose watchful waiting instead. But with all the pro surgery sentiment back in 2007 I thought I really MUST do something. I still remember my first bozo urologist stating without radical treatment I'd be dead in 7 years. With my numbers that was even a lie back then. Thank god for the local tv newscast showing my the university hospital here was a leader in less is more with low PCa treatments and my contacting an expert urologist. I think he's still the director of research. I haven't seen him since changing to medicare.

I give you credit for staying here I just evolved to the point I rarely thought of prostate cancer anymore unless I looked in here. When lightening took out my PC and I was without for awhile I just didn't see any need to get back into cancer world when I set up a new one. So I never bookmarked Healing Well again. It was a break that still is going on. Life is too short, so the few remaining relatively healthy senior days that remain I just enjoy life. In time I know other health concerns will come and one will kill me. But like my uro said I'll die of something, but he doubts it will ever be prostate cancer. Meanwhile my knees are killing me after climbing up and down on a ladder yesterday cleaning out my gutters. They were long overdue.

It's great to here from you and Purgatory again. I'll try to look in here every now and then for old times sake. Stay well my friends,...Ziggy

Ziggy: I hear you on the aching knees and gutter cleaning. I cleaned mine last week. Full of those darned maple leaf helicopters from the neighbor's trees. As for HW, I lurk here frequently, but find that I have nothing to offer that others don't say with more knowledge and better authority. I do think, though, that there's a benefit in showing newcomers that there often are good outcomes, that a diagnosis of prostate cancer doesn't necessarily mean that all good has been drained from one's life. Unfortunately, not everyone ends up in what we used to call the "zero club," but many do, and hearing from those people may give some reassurance and hope to the newly diagnosed who are filled with fear and dread.

Clocknut -- Maple helicopters, argh!!!!!!! I moved out of the city partly to get rid of those things. But I moved into a neighborhood full of Oak leaves and acorns, Sweetgum spike balls, Sycamore balls and leaves, oh and Cottonwood fluff. That last one is coming down really hard right now.

Alephnull, you wouldn't happen to live in southern Illinois, would you? That variety of trees is very common there (I grew up 30 miles east of St. Louis).

I don't know you but you sound like you may look at alternative medicine. I had a sever case of arthritis when I was young. I went into Beekeeping commercially and used bee stings on my swollen joints. MD community had my life span as 55 yr old max. I am still here. Look up (apitherapy) it works

oldbeek thanks for the advice. Being you had severe arthritis at a young age indicates to me most likely you have a different arthritis than I do. I just have the common osteoarthritis. My cartilage is simply worn out, and I have a partially torn meniscus in one knee too. After playing golf yesterday my one knee was killing me but this morning it's surprisingly much better. Although I have to mow the lawn today and after we'll see. When bad, my knees really don't swell up. Plus I'm not wild about the idea of using bee stings. I had a synvisc injection 4 months ago and that made it maybe 25% less painful afterward. At least until I climbed up and down a ladder 15-20 times.

But enough of that, it doesn't seem right my whining about arthritis in a cancer forum. I'm sure many here would trade me in a second with my knees and cured PCa for their present cancer concerns

This sounds really similar to my experience with arthritis...if I was on my feet a lot during the day, my knee really ached a lot at night. Laying on the floor with my knee elevated provided some relief, but almost without exception what really made things better was a good night's sleep...my pain was almost always gone by morning at which point I'd get up and do it all again. That was how it was for many years (knee cartilage was surgically removed in my mid-20s in reconstruction surgeries from basketball injury) until I had my knee replacement...
