A View from the end of this path:
My wife rolls out of bed at 4:45 in the morning. I am up not much later. We drive an hour to Roswell. And there a few minutes early for my 7 o’clock phlebotomy (and pee test) appointment. I had a breakfast of: No, I’m fasting because the second item on my itinerary is it a CT scan of my chest abdomen and pelvis. As somebody who works evenings it surprises me that this many people could be up and perky this early in the morning. Also I can definitely recommend the early arrival system. The rest of my AM itinerary is a nuclear medicine bone injection at 8, an EKG at 9 and a Bone scan at 11. My longest wait is in the line at the cafeteria where they serve tasty, moderately priced food. It seems that everybody eats there, maintenance workers clinicians and patients alike. After we eat we go sit in the beautiful garden outside Roswell’s entry door because it’s a nice day out.
I have a 1215 with the doctor and the trial coordinator. I run into a little delay here. There’s a lot of diagnostic information to look at.
Bone Scan- MAYBE a little growth. The scans were exposed at different levels, on different systems, so not exactly cut and dried analysis. And what was the line from the old Spider-Man cartoon intro-“he’s got radioactive blood”
Lymph Mets: call it a wash; not discernible either way.
PSA: slightly UP from 22.16 to 25.59
Electrolytes: nothing mentioned except that Phosphorus is still kinda high.
QT prolongation issue: still hasn’t resolved itself, even after 2 weeks off med, where the protocol calls for 1 week off per cycle...
Conclusion: it’s my call: continue at 1of 3 pills, and continue to monitor at a more frequent pace for cardiac issues OR move on- there are other trials available. I will be moving on.
Dr Chatta describes a Brand-New trial, apparently involving another Breast Cancer success story: Continue Xtandi and add Venetoclax, in a Phase 1 Trial... I ‘turn my pony around’ about
1:30, and we head for home...
