First PSA after 6 weeks on Lupron

I am waiting for my first PSA results after starting Lupron 7 weeks ago. I had my prostate removed and had radiation but a small tumor appeared on the outside of my colon and when they tried to remove it they missed it. Now they said all I can do is Lupron does anyone know how long it usually takes to see a drop in PSA? Mine is currently 19.2 Casodex worked for a short time but then it jumped.

A few guys on the forum control their PSA with Casodex alone. My MO would not consider Casodex mono-therapy for me because he described it as inferior treatment. If the Lupron is going to work I would think you will see a sharp PSA drop, but not reaching it's low point after seven weeks.

Well got the PSA results it went up quite a bit from 19.2 to 57.1 trying to get in touch with doctor but does not seem to be responding to Lupron, freaking out.

Wait, "they missed it"?!
Why don't they go back in and find it? Not even to biopsy?

Jerry where are you being treated? PSA going up like that is emergency. Need far far more than Casodex. You need a world class PCa oncologist. Where are you?

Had robotic Surgery in Jan at Boca Regional Hospital in Boca Raton Fl. They are part of the Lynn Cancer center where I have been going for 10 years. My oncologist specializes in Prostate Cancer. The colon surgeon said he missed the tumor that was 3cc on the outside of my Sigmund colon.
He said it would be a easy surgery and would be my only change for a cure. Well he missed the tumor cannot even sue because I am too old. They cannot operate again because of all the complications from the original surgery, I also ended up in intensive care for 5 days 4 weeks after the surgery with uncontrollable bleeding. My sister worked in Huston and has a cancer specialist there that is going to review all my paperwork.

Was on Casodex worked for a month then started Lupron injections 7 weeks ago.

Well received new PSA numbers not good but went slightly down 57.1 to 52.0. Ongolagist
New saw this. Testerone is 5. He wants to see if I can get approved for another Aximum Pet scan before starting further hormone treat or chemo. At the time of my previous PSA I had a serious bladder infection with bleeding at the same time I started the Lupron did it make a difference no idea. Any ideas or comments

With that much PSA you have significant PCa somewhere. Whether it is in one or a few spots should show on a scan and perhaps be treatable with radiation. Why did your docs wait so long to start ADT while watching the get so high? With a T level of 5, I would hope your PSA now goes close to zero. If not, you will have to look at some others treatment like Xtandi or Zytiga. Has your medical oncologist discussed the possibilities with you?

My PSA was very low I.2 or lower for ten years. Went it suddenly went to 19.2 they did the first Aximun scan which showed a 3mm tumor on the outside of my sigmond colon. They decided since it was the only cancer seen they decided robotic surgery was my best option since I already have serious radiation scaring. Well they operated and missed the tumor that is when they put me on Lupron because it was the only choice since I was too weak for another operation and radiation was not an option. My doctor has discussed Zytiga and Xtandi but wanted to see the new scan first then we will decide if Zytiga or chemo is the best answer. At the time I started Lupron I had a serious bladder infection that I was unaware of until the following week when I made an appointment with my urologist. I had a serious infection and blood in the urine Ongologist is not sure if that may have slow down the Lupron. I was on Cipro for 10 days. I am very confused at this point on what to do. Since they are trying to get approval for another Aximun scan today.

Well after a week of trying to get approval for my Aximun scan today. Had to give them a$4900 deposit in case I do not show up for the test. I go on Thursday so probably will not have results until the middle of next week. Got back the redo of PSA and testerone PSA is now 52 from 57.2 but still high. Testerone is <3 which I would think shows Lupron is working. After scan going for another PSA before new-treatment. Anyone know of anything that helps the fatigue.

I started walking briskly about a month into ADT. I've worked my way up to 4 miles four days per week. I wouldn't call it a comprensive workout, but I think it helps a lot. I've also started doing some push ups every day. The walks have become a routine and something I look forward to.

Thanks for your advice I do work out quite a bit but does not seem to help much I play tennis 4 days a week and go to the gym 2 days. I take Sunday off I know exercise is very important but started taking 5 hour energy drinks seem to help some. Thanks again for your good wishes.
