Newbie here. Looking to get guidance from veterans perspective:
I posted on this thread because it is the first thread I saw more commonality with (a. MSKCC RO is also Dr. Gorovets as a couple of guys mentioned above b. I am getting RT too (right after Brachy HDR).

My questions are:Looking to get guidance from veterans perspective:


1. If ever there are SE for RT, any veteran tips how to manage? (Skin care? Sun protection? Urinary? Fatigue? etc.).

How about the guys who had no SE - did you do anything special? (Some other forums talk about Kegel exercises etc.). I have a couple of weeks to go before RT so I like to get prepared if at all beneficial.
Right now I am just doing my runs and modest weight lifting.

My main QoL concerns are:
a) I am caregiver for my 83 year old mom. Trying to be strong for her. No other available help.
b) I am also trying to keep working productively - work is just in front of computers.
c) If at all possible, I do not want to stop my regular runs (I am exercising for my health, as well as for a prospective first marathon in Dec)

-- I had some SE after BT (8/30/19). But it went from horrible the first 2-3 days to bearable, then to just annoying now (11 days). The feeling of constipation or false alarm was the worst - but short of using laxatives I tried some fruits and lots of water kinda normalized stuff but still lingering front end and back end issues (on top of sweats/hot flashes from HT). On temporary ED, as the HT totally wiped out my T.

PSA: 5.3 3/19; Bx: 4/1/19; Confirmed PCa: 5/6/19.
T1c; 2 of 12 cores; G 4+4 (MSKCC confirmed G 8); <5%; total volume 47-50cc
Triple play treatment plan:
a. ADT/HT Casodex 5/6/19 30 days then Lupron/Eligard 22.5 mg 5/20 every 3 mos. (total 18 months?)
b. HDR BT 8/30/19 - Ir 192 + Fiducial markers + Spacer; remains on Flowmax
c. IG-IMRT prospectively 9/30 for 25 sessions

I'm guessing with 26 Tx you are getting hypofractionated RT, which would have a higher dose per Tx... so it's great that you have been free of SE's so far.

My RO at MSKCC said... they no longer do 44 treatments and that 26 is the max. I think it is hypofractional RT but nothing like SBRT! I see the SBRT guys all the time and although they only have 5 treatments...it is no picnic! They have to drink a bunch (I do not have drink at all) and get sent back to drink more because their bladder is not full. Their RT is also 45 min. to an hour and my treatment takes like 10 minutes after set up! Trust me rather have the SBRT though!

26 is the max????????????
I was slated for 44 before a PET scan came back with a great result. I am at MSK and my doctor is head of RO. He wrote the protocols used.I have to have a full bladder
